Donegal new favourites for Sam, Belclare7 (Galway) - Posts: 254 - 11/05/2025 10:04:29 2608342 Link 0 |
Haha cute Galway man! I had a look at the odds and it's still Kerry favourites, followed by Galway. For me it's still Galway as the team to beat. 1. Galway 2. Kerry 3. Dublin, Armagh, Donegal all close. 4 Tyrone and Mayo. FootballGuy (Donegal) - Posts: 266 - 11/05/2025 10:22:56 2608353 Link 0 |
Brilliant game . Brilliant atmosphere. Armagh could still have a say. Murphy is an absolute warrior. An all time great. The only worry I would have as a Donegal supporter is that they have become reliant on him again. If Donegal are to win Sam under Jim it has to be this year in my opinion considering the age profile of the leaders and the training load under Jim. It's going to be a great championship . I wouldn't worry about the Armagh supporters, everybody knows what they are like at this stage. And their players actions at the full time whistle pretty much sums them up too. Well done to our players, management team and supporters. That was a sweet one yesterday. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1195 - 11/05/2025 11:02:44 2608370 Link 3 |
You can lose with class and you can win with class. And unfortunately there was individuals on both sides who did neither. The vast majority on both sides were proper sportmen. If whats reported what was said was true during the goading then the belt in the mouth was deserved. I'll not repeat it as I cant verify it. Even if its untrue, the goading wasnt needed. Both teams had just left everything out there, majority barely able to walk. On Murphy. Fantastic footballer, one of the best ever. I think he got away with plenty yesterday. A few late hits, a pull back on Mcgrane who then got blown for a lift off ground, a rugby tackle in middle of field which advantage was played and no card when a black card would have been more advantage, overcarrying on Pat mcgrane side. Even getting the free for his magnificent one handed catch (inititally thought it was a mark but was given as a free which he let mcbrearty tap over over) - if thats a free in an ulster final then every contact is! I was in mcgrane and there wasnt abuse for him in my section - more playful banter that hes as protected as the Pope lol. Majority of sane Armagh fans recognize hes a top footballer. Some game of football lads, very little between the 2 sides. Congrats on your Ulster title. ArmaghAndProud (Armagh) - Posts: 41 - 11/05/2025 12:07:42 2608392 Link 0 |
1. Galway 2. Kerry 3./4. Donegal/Armagh 5. Tyrone 6. Derry 7. Dublin 8/9 Monaghan/Mayo Galway are the outstanding team. I think last year's final may haunt them if they get that far again though. Kerry will look to average last year's semi and could easily go all the way. Donegal and Armagh ouse class but could run out of steam after tough Ulsters and Group stages. Tyrone are under the radar. Good team and ran Armagh close. Derry could be 3rd or 16th depending on their attitude. I think Dublin are finished tbh. Con is holding them together and conveyor belt has stopped. Wicklow could have beaten them. Monaghan could go far, especially with easy draw, Mayo won't go all the way but won't be easily beaten by anyone either. Likes of Roscommon and Cork can best anyone on their day as we saw last year. Brilliant open championship to look forward to this year thebronze14 (Donegal) - Posts: 50 - 11/05/2025 12:17:35 2608394 Link 0 |
I want to clear on my post. I've no issue with the armagh support apart from what the few were saying about michael murphy. There is no need for it. The armagh support is huge and so passionate about the team. The season tickets are approximately 4000 for armagh and 1200 hundred for donegal and as a result the armagh fans dominated in the mcgrane stand. No matter who it was it's hard to be completely surrounded by the opposition supporters. And to go back to murphy. Armagh might need to get over that. He's like stuck in your heads. I dont disagree, the ticketing should be done much better. Think the majority would prefer to sit with their own support. Felt sorry for one Donegal couple sat in a sea of orange behind us. I know if it was me and the other way around id find that annoying - hard to enjoy your own scores etc in the same way. Sep grudge aside - the seat numbering atleast in the seats in the Pat mcgrane is all wrong. They dont match what the signs say. And they dont match what you pick on ticketmaster. I deliberately picked an aisle seat for a number of reasons 6ft 4 so to hang a leg out a little, and ease to bring children to the toilet. My aisle seat - no 28 was bang smack in the middle or the rown, and to my left was no1. I was in bad form before the game even started lol! It's a compliment to Michael Murphy that he's stuck in the heads of supporters from a lot of counties.

Galway the outstanding team yet only beat us by 2 points in connacht ? We can beat anyone on our day . You say we won't go all the way but have us level with monaghan who you say will go far... As you said it's a wide open championship mayo have just as much chance as any of you . Though we probably won't till Mcstay goes . But we are not far off . I'm sure your not even fearing playing us by the sounds of it . Fair play to mcguiness he's turned Donegal around . S1234 (Mayo) - Posts: 147 - 11/05/2025 13:45:43 2608411 Link 0 |
Embarrassing post seeing that the Donegal players childish actions got exactly what he deserved

So you think a player deserves to get punched for celebrating a win in a provincial final. Plenty players on the opposition team did exactly the same every time they scored a point. I guess your players wont have to worry about celebrating. Enjoy the tailteann cup

What game did you watch? We were schooled last Sunday. At no point did we look like winning. The final score flattered us. Our poor defence were bystanders in the first half, happy to leave a good gap at half time in the expectation that the wind was gonna help us in the second half. They looked they had never heard that Paul Conroy is a serious scoring threat. In the second half with the wind at our back we didn't score in the last 15 minutes, and we subbed out two of our three best forwards on the day. Who bother with Aido in the full forward line if we're not gonna use his size and strength and kicking more ball into him. Galway defending was exemplary in the last quarter when it had to be, should have tried defending like that in both halves. On league on championship form I'd have us lower Division 2 standard and Cavan will beat us unless there's a dramatic improvement. Playing 'better than expected' isn't the same as playing well and showing definite improvement. 'Our day'! Get yourself a clue man.

What are you on about? Not hard to know Westmeath have never won much.

The reaction of the Armagh bench, of course, was wrong. All the others on the Donegal bench headed towards the middle of the field to celebrate with their team mates while this one plonker decided to head over and rile the Armagh lads(that's not celebrating). While the Armagh reaction to him was wrong, he too was out of order and if he was a son of mine I think I'd say " well son you kinda looked for it". sligo joe (Dublin) - Posts: 889 - 11/05/2025 15:29:20 2608438 Link 4 |
Peiledoir ,I can only speak from my own experience but more often than not I have found the Armagh supporters to be top class.

Agreed, Mick. A sound bunch any time I've met them! I find the Kildare crowd a bit uppity in themselves, with this kinda sense of entitlement, when they've won sweet f all!

I didn't notice that but the seat I had was much less central than it looked like on ticketmaster. And It should be not hard to keep fans of the one team more together. The whole season ticket product at least guarantees a ticket but the service could be a good bit better.
