Watching from afar via TG4 I was pleased with the performance shown at the weekend given the team selection. As already alluded to Murphy, Jamie Brennan, Big Hugh and Mark Curran had decent games. Actually Mark Curran is developing into a really top level inter county player who might not even make the starting 15. Good also to see McFadden Ferry get a good run out. Another serious option to have when he gets back to full fitness. Special mention to Finbar Roarty. This lad is a generational talent in my opinion and he'll be a cheat code at under 20 level. Hopefully the under twenties will have a decent run at it. However it's going to be very difficult as per with strong squads in Tyrone, Derry and maybe Armagh. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2835 - 18/03/2025 17:31:38 2597117 Link 0 |
On another note Saint Pats done as I'm sure many expected by winning the Hogan Cup pretty easily over the weekend. Highlights the amazing journey the Abbey went on by winning the intermediate schools competition and pushing Pats in the Ulster final. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2835 - 18/03/2025 17:33:53 2597118 Link 0 |
Not from the iniskeel parish, just don't like people belittling players who put in huge efforts.. gave the lad a chance it's the least he deserves.

I mentioned another player not from my parish that gets lots of abuse in my original post. I hate individual players getting abuse regardless of where they are from. All players do the same training putting in the same effort and giving the same commitment.

Just seen Roarty is suspended for the first 2 games of the u20 championship, luckily those are the games against Fermanagh and Antrim which you'd imagine we'd win without him. Is the suspension related to the age fiasco last year or whats the story with it?

I think mcGuinness would be happy at the weekend. They weren't blessed with traditional man making players and have got time into McFadden ferry. He's a good player to tag a quality opposition player. Ulsterchamps_32 (Donegal) - Posts: 790 - 18/03/2025 21:32:25 2597158 Link 1 |
Very best of luck to the U20s who begin their campaign this evening. Looking at the squad just posted, it is an extremely good squad of players, I hope they do well! dgcrusader (Donegal) - Posts: 74 - 19/03/2025 11:09:54 2597217 Link 0 |
I actually didn't know that either. I'm kinda out of the loop a bit especially as I've been out of the country. I thought McElwaine from Downings was underage again but he's not in the squad either. It looks a decent enough squad on paper so let's hope they have a good run and maybe a bit of luck too won't go amiss. We seem to be always on the wrong side of tight games against the neighbours who then go on and win All Irelands.

I read in the paper that it was down to "an altercation" in a previous match. But not much more info than that. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9691 - 19/03/2025 16:33:46 2597311 Link 0 |
Ye Farney were very close to winning silverware at the weekend, nearly won that Glitterball.

I think it was Jim who said in an interview after the Tyrone game that Finbar's two match suspension is related to a brawl or altercation that happened during last years U20's. Also read that he is eligible for U20's in 2026 also. U20's had a relaxed enough 10 point win over Fermanagh last night, 1-18 to 1-08. Another useful game for the squad members this Sunday I would say? Castlebar is a hard enough venue to get a win in, even with a first team selection. If we can get another decent performance in, maybe give some of the first teamers 10 or 15 minutes, and get out of there with no injuries it'll be job done. Midtable in the league and ticking along nicely. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9691 - 21/03/2025 11:05:45 2597614 Link 0 |
Most definitely, it will be much of the same squad I'd imagine with possibly McGee/Langan getting a run out? Wouldnt mind seeing them get some game time before Derry. Mayo by at least 4 is my prediction

When do the tickets go on sale for the first round of Ulster or will they be from the club only? StockholmGael (Donegal) - Posts: 141 - 21/03/2025 12:38:44 2597633 Link 0 |
I would say from the crowds we saw during the league we can expect Ballybofey to sell out. I guess the clubs will be looked after first, and if there are any tickets left after that, they'll go on general sale.

Awesome. I'll go through the club to be on the safe side.

Way too early to be reading into anything , but I see termon picked up a 1 point win down in magheragallon in the Gaeltacht, sticking 4 goals past them in the first half. Not sure what kinda team was out on either side but wonder will termon be a team to watch this year in senior? gaelicloverdonegal (Donegal) - Posts: 2 - 22/03/2025 19:23:03 2597832 Link 0 |
