One of them, the goalkeeper, didn't play the following week against Killybegs and the Co Board put their hands up and said, 'nothing we can do about it lads, keep it moving'," said CJ Molloy.

"And then there was another player who supposedly played in America. I have a really hard time with that, especially myself being from New York and the amount of times I have been asked to play over there and I never did because I knew the rules and the consequences for my club, Ardara.

"But it seems it's different rules for different folks."

What are people's thoughts on this? Seems MacCumhaills have been quite lucky to escape next to no punishment for this."
Well if ardara thought maccumhaills breached rules they should have objected, they chose not to, time to shut up then!"
Only reason they didn't is because their manager is a MacCumhaills man.

They've lost their best non county player for 48 weeks. If that's next to no punishment then I'd like to know what you think should happen to them and the player? Even though MacCumhaills themselves did nothing wrong, they have to do without him for the year."
Is this Joel Bradley-Walsh or someone else?

"Southwest Donegal" competing in the MacRory cup this year, hopefully it works out well for them. Worked well for Colaistí Inis Eoghain if memory serves, got plenty of lads exposure to a higher level of football and its paying dividends for clubs.

One thing always happens when you have these "elite" teams….the average player suffers. Look at development squads, lads are told not to play with their clubs. Wonder what will happen when there's a clash between the southwest team and a school? What will the player (be told) to do?

What schools are going to make this up? Seems a logistical headache!

Pobalscoil Gaoth Dobhair, St Catherine's Vocational School, Coláiste na Carraige, Rosses Community School, and St Columbas Comprehensive. Has the makings of a good team that, big GAA schools.

Well, has they played since? ...for Ardara, that is.

Think CJ is well within his rights as a player to vent his frustrations. Doesn't mean anything will or should happen of it.

I'm hearing that Gweedore are up the north training twice a week for the last two weeks. Big commitment on boys, seems like a lot of mileage just to get 15 men behind the ball. This is becoming a common trend dragging men up the north or Sligo etc to train on week nights. Big ask on players especially at smaller clubs (eg. Downings) where the likely hood is your gonna be knocked out the next week.

On another note, I heard that Jamie Brennan is out for the weekend, another county player not playing...... that would take away whatever chance Bundoran had.

The way the fixtures have been done this weekend is very unfair on clubs and their supporters. I think there at least 12 clubs who have both their senior and reserves playing. Only Ardara have both their teams playing at the same venue in a double header. Supporters from all other clubs will have to pay in to 2 games to support both their teams. Money making racket from the county board

It seems a good way to getting players all along the west coast of Donegal playing at an elite level and hopefully helps produce more county senior level players down the line.

Agreed. We don't have the big schools like the North has, and St. Pats in Cavan for example, to compete in the Hogan so our best young players have missed out for years testing themselves at that elite schools level.

Let's be honest, our record at minor at u21 level is pretty abysmal. Anything that helps us bridge the gap should be welcomed. I read Damien Diver's comments in the paper about it and I could only nod my head in agreement with all of it.

I know the Inishowen schools did similar in the past. What competition are Eunans college competing in?

St Eunans are in the B competition. I don't mind this idea as long as it doesn't impact on the average school players, as an association we don't just have to look after the better players. If it brings the better players on without impacting on the five schools, then great and only an idiot would be against it. But let's see what happens when a player has a niggle, who will they prioritise then?

Some great games to look forward to all the Championships in Donegal. St Eunans vs Naomh Conaill obviously the big one, the best two clubs in Donegal the last few years. Glenswilly, Kilcar and Gaoth Dobhair will all fancy their chances of getting into a semi final and possibly into a final depending on the draw. Termon will be favourites to reach the Intermediate final vs Naomh Muire who had result of the weekend. Malin vs Glen is a toss up, could go either way. In the Junior Championship, Carn vs Convoy and Naomh Ultan vs Muff both very difficult to call.

St. Eunans and NC meeting at this stage is brilliant for the championship because it means obviously 1 big team is gone but will the the winners be able to get to the highest level for the semis/final. I genuinely think this year could be a year we see a shock in Donegal.

As for the weekend I believe Eunans unfortunately will have too much. Obviously we know the skill is there but they will be itching to make up for the last few years and with the sad news a few weeks back I think that will drive them over the line. I hope I'm wrong but that's my 2 cents

Glenswilly v Kilcar final, Glenswilly to win a close match

Was at the Gaoth Dobhair - MacCumhaills game. MacCumhaills were very disappointing. Once Gaoth Dobhair raced into an early lead you sensed that the game was pretty much over. The Gaoth Dobhair defence handled Gallen very well and there didn't appear to be any plan B after that. Joel Bradley Walsh was obviously a big loss. Himself and Gallen have a great understanding, and in his absence, they could not get good ball into Gallen quickly enough.

Goath Dobhair looked good in patches but they'll know themselves that big improvement will be needed if they're to seriously challenge. They'll feel they owe Four Masters after their surprise defeat on the opening weekend. Should be an interesting tie.

The Eunans Naomh Conaill game is massive. Some might even argue that this is our county final. Really hard one to call. Wouldn't rule out extra time and penalties. (I assume these ties are all finish on the day?)

In the other games I think Glenswilly and Kilcar will emerge. But both Dungloe and St. Michaels could be stubborn opponents.

It's not good for the championship when most likely we will see a very one sided final as our showpiece which ever of the 2 emerge.

Fir me it will be won on the line again as in my opinion we have a stronger and more talented panel of players but glenties/fintown have had an edge on the line in close encounters in recent years as they are brilliantly coached and are much better at implementing this modern style of football.

We outsmarted them on the line in the league and group stage championship games this year but it remains to be seen if we can do the same when it counts in knockout championship.

Was very very disappointed in the twin towns club yesterday - far too reliant on Oisin who was brilliantly marshalled by Mc fadden - I think he's a superb Tigerish man marker.

Our game is impossible to call but I'll be backing our lads to come through as will the blue brigade theirs.

Kilcar are gaining momentum as the year goes on and glenswilly have been blessed with good draws all year. Hard to know what to make of our neighbours looking at the twin town lads yesterday who put it up to the Glen and also CCF who are heading for relegation possibly.

Blockbuster tie this weekend with the heavyweights Glenties and Eunans squaring up.

Are both sides happy to meet each other now or would they have preferred this tie in a few weeks time with another game or two under the belt?

Will the extra pre QF game stand to or hinder Eunans even though Ardara didn't lay a glove on them?
