If Eoghan Ban goes in to the half back line that line will be McHugh,McGonagle and Eoghan Ban in that line.Where does that leave Mogan and O'Baoill.

Yeah like that could be it. He has shown he's capable in the past and it's not like he has suffered any serious injuries which are hampering him. I don't want to be sounding arrogant or disrespectful here to any of the teams we have yet to play, but if Brennan could nail a goal and a few points against one or two of them, might that be the tonic to get his mojo back?

Don't know if KJ will feature this year but certainly one for the future. Dara o Baoill ( back to his best), Mogan, Langan, Shane O Donnell, Odhran Doherty, Niall O Donnell ( if injuries clear up), Jamie... sum fight for the other 4 forward positions.....

I think Curran a shoe in with mc Cole definite for full back. Mc menamin if he keeps fit will be the other corner man. As I said this while we are lacking good tight corner backs. I might sound like a record player but im worried come championship if anything happens any of these three.. if we want to have a good year we'll have to play in croker then I think the troubles could start. Maybe I'm wrong hopefully

A lot or people seem to hare forgotten about Conor O'Donnell from Carn. If he can get back in the next few weeks and deliver the promise he showed before I think he is the obvious choice for the 15 jersey. Although rushy with his shots (at times) he is two footed and as direct as any other forward we have. Strong and a good ball winner. The lad has bundles of talent.

Jamie will get his scoring boots back soon, many forwards go through similar patches, I wouldn't worry about him, hopefully he'll catch fire right about the time we are heading for Celtic Park in April,
On the penalty the last day it should have been retaken, the officiating was weak at best if not biased,
I would rather have seen Ryan or Paddy taking that penalty though.

Yeah he's a very good player. His injury must be bad enough though is it? Haven't heard any word on him at all. He'd be a great man to have involved. He has a good knack for scoring goals too.

Caught ball watching but surprised he was one on one and the rest so far forward. I'd be surprised if you see us concede like that come championship. Right now I wouldn't be too over concerned.

Replying To Commodore:  "I thought Caolan McGonigle had a quiet first half, but I did notice this game that he seems to play a big role in organizing the troops for opposition kick-outs, he had a much better second half.

Collectively the team played very well, high intensity and physical, lots of sloppy mistakes too, but I think consideration that it was their first big test is definitely allowed. I think it shows we're definitely back amongst the Tier 2 sides hoping to breakthrough into the Tier 1.

Unfortunately I was watching the BBC stream and the quality was really poor in the first half. The feed kept buffering and freezing so was difficult to watch. So I cannot disagree with your first half assessment of McGonigle but he definitely seemed to stand up when we needed people to be counted.

Surely a half forward though no? Christy Toye mark 2 if you ask me which is quite the compliment as Toye was an incredible player for Donegal.

Anybody have recent up to date information on Jason McGee, CoDonnell carn, and Eoin ban at all..be serious additions if we could get all 3 back soon enough?

He was probably off his line but it was an easy save from a very poor penalty.He didn't want to take it,the body language was bad.McHugh looked like he was going to take it,he had the ball at the spot but somebody decided that Gallen should take it and he was called up from where he was standing away back.I don't know if his reluctance was due to the fact that he got a bang on the side just before that and looked very uncomfortable.

Definitely not ball watching.They totally misjudged the flight of the ball and it went over their heads and Murnin was behind them and fairly buried it.I don't know if his judgement made him think they were going to miss it or if he just gambled that they might miss it.McHugh is usually good at covering those situations but he was actually just in front of McMenamin which maybe caused McM to momentarily to take his eye off the ball.

He's not too far away from what I heard. The league final, all going to plan, would be an extra game to get minutes into the legs of players before championship if nothing else.

I don't notice McHugh but they've been doing something like that for years. Mcbreaty taking the ball and the verbals!!! Murphy standing away back and then coming forward. It's a deliberate ploy.

That's exactly it, Ryan was never ever taking it and it was always going to be Farah. It stops the opposition players from trying to get into the head of the penalty taker.

I still think he will be on penalties with Paddy as backup.

That's a good problem to have with players competing for places. But certainly all 5 you mentioned start for me. I would start Mogan at No. 15 but let him roam. Daire could start in the half forward line, especially. If we are going with Thompson and Langan in MF. We would need Daire in the half forward line. If Hugh starts in MF then Thompson or Langan will also be in the HF line. I'm not going to mention Jason McGee because we don't really know where he is at so we can only go by the players we have available.

I think Brendan would be a huge loss at full back, the only other option may be the likes of Dara O Baoill dropping back there. Kevin Mc Gettigan would be a very capable corner back and Jim trusts him there. Eoin Ban can also play there but would be a loss in the half back line.

Mogan has been used mainly as a half forward, Jim has used him and Ryan on the same side. Dara is very versatile and has had a brilliant league campaign to date. He can play as a half back or a half forward.
Jim had used a lot of players in the league and is building a good panel. In the modern game the bench is hugely important and a panel of 25 is needed where when players come off the team is not weakened.
