Replying To rorysboys:  "Oh yea completely forgot him, don't know why because he's an outstanding talent. Looks like very few newcomers going to make going to be the same tried and trusted. I think Jamie grant has to be considered , he's making the d c u team.. pity if mogan and the three o donnell s are gone Niall Shane and Ethan.. we can't afford to lose talent like that. Hope they can be coaxed back. Another few players who bonner was blamed for getting rid of. Ciaran mulligan Micheal Carroll and Stephen Mc brearty don't seem to be in paddy carrs plan. Maybe it was the players decision all along and not management."
you're just rewriting things now rory, everyone and their dog in Donegal knows the scéal with Michael Carroll and Bonner had nothing to do with it.

Believe it or not people who were ready for Bonner to move on were not out with the pitchforks against him from day one and blaming him for everything from the war in Ukraine to COVID. He was a breath of fresh air when he came in but it got stale and we never fully recovered from the Ulster final loss to Cavan. Get over it and stop harping back to Bonner constantly like a lovesick teenager.

I agree we can't really afford to lose the O'Donnells and Mogan but Carr can't be blamed just like Bonner wouldn't have been blamed by anyone with a sensible head on them.

Never blamed carr for anything I admire the man. So grow up a lot of yous and don't be looking for likes by commenting on my posts. Especially from armchair supporters. Lol

I'd say Caolan McColgan and Jamie Grant will start in the back, Ciaran Thompson in midfield. Hopefully Bradley Walsh will also start up front. I think that a number of regular names are still some way from fitness, could be the end of February before we see McHugh, Langan back.

I'd say you're right. I suppose Carr needs to find out who can cut it at this level and the only way he can do that is watch lads in training and give them their chance against Div 1 opposition. There is no better learning curve than playing against the All Ireland champions, even if they are missing a few.

Does anyone know what the story with Oisin Gallen is? It feels like we've been waiting for him to fully explode onto the national stage for the last couple of years now. The talent is undoubtedly there but I know he has been hampered by injuries. Will 2023 finally be the year where he gets a sustained run in the side?

First Team will be interesting

Would like us to name a tight defensive unit, as its our weakness
We have plenty of forwards who can tap over points but we need to hold back the tide

Kerry will be understrength i imagine so its a chance to get early points at home

Best of Luck to the new management, give them time to build a squad

As long as the players are commited and give 110% then i wont have any issues, win, lose or draw

Just play for the Jersey !!

It's a tall order but if we were to get the win on Sunday it would be absolutely massive for a couple of reasons.
It would obviously be a great start to Paddy Carr's tenure and would reignite the county's enthusiasm for the county team. Maybe I'm wrong but I get the feeling that people are somewhat underwhelmed by the managerial appointment. Very unfair on Paddy Carr I know.
It would be two points on the board towards Div 1 safety. Another couple of wins would (Monaghan & Roscommon?) would probably ensure it.

I think with Michael gone a good bit earlier than a lot of us expected and the dragged out process of appointing the new manager I think many people aren't sure where we are at, and also with word going that some fellas aren't committing to the county team anymore.
I think even if we beat an under strength Kerry next Sunday the expectations will remain low and certainly nowhere near as good as they were coming in round the 2019 period, I don't think we ever recovered from that defeat in the 2020 Ulster final.
I can't see us doing a whole lot in the near future, if we retain div 1 status and have a decent Championship I will be happy enough I suppose.

We have to be winning this game on Sunday, as I said before no better time to meet Kerry, in fortress ballybofey with 8 or 9 of all Ireland team missing. We have to be winning the home games. Some posters saying they haven't much faith this year. I ask why not we supposedly have as good young crop of players as any of the top teams. I would like to wish paddy and the lads all the best . It won't be easy but this is the first division. Hopefully all goes well staying up definitely a priority. We all know the championship is there to be win. We have a good enough draw. Aim high should be the motto.

It's a game Donegal should be winning. Good record in Ballybofey and Kerry have only 5 of their first choice team available for selection and still smarting from the recently hammering off Cork.

Gallery was named on the bench for DCU this week in the sigerson. No idea how fit he is though.

Replying To rorysboys:  "We shudnt be losing young talented players simple as. If reports are through we could be down 5 starters from last year. 3 of them in there prime. Not one through emigration. Why wudnt we be trying to coax them back so Dublin coaxed Mc caffrey and mannion this year, what's so special about us. Mogan and Shane o donnell were probably our two best players last year. To win anything we need every player committing."
Fellas have to be fully committed to the demands of intercounty football, they are amateurs I have no problem with guys opting out because they can't commit. If they are ready to commit in 2024 then great. I don't care what Dublin or any one else is doing. I just don't believe at any level either club or county can you operate with lads who are 70 or 75 percent committed.

There was a good article in the Examiner today explaining the importance of the league. With the way that league and championship results are factored in, your only definite guarantee that you'll be in the AI last 16 is by finishing top 6 in the league.

Any thoughts on why a lot of our county men are only making the bench for colleges competition over the last few weeks ???

He was named on the bench the past few years in Sigurdson. Hope he gets game time this year and injury free but he's injured again I'm hearing. For how long ? I don't know. I hope he's back in contention

Looking at that article online it says Paddy Carr is due to talk to Peadar Mogan this week.. seems a bit late, but sounds like Mogan will be available this year.

On the injury front, langan, Thompson and gallen all out, shaun patton having fitness test before Sunday. Shane and ethan o'donnell not part of the squad this year.
