We played great yesterday. No point trying to make sense of results as you'll go mad. It's nothing new this year e.g. We push Offaly all the way and they go beat Kildare and gain promotion. We kicked some great scores but also plenty of wides. I lost count of how many goal scoring opportunities we created yesterday with one put away. We had Sligo backs in a spin but we just can't hit the knock out punch. Sligo had about 4 chances and scored 2 and with relative ease to be fair to them. They just seemed more efficient but we should have been out of sight. A funny game. But we showed great heart, fitness and it will stand to us.
Ideally we go and try and beat Tipp by the 10 to keep us alive our side but first and foremost, just get the win and get that monkey off the back..ie no win in 12 months. I think back to a league game we had to win by 8 to stay up and lost to them so we must approach them like Sligo, Mayo game. Liatroim abú

After two games we have the worst scoring record in the teacup, followed closely by Longford

We will be in a division were I think we can ve very competitive, the likes of Cox, Prior, McNulty, Guickan will be very hard watched at that level.
2025 was a bad year, we will draw a line thru it take the few positives and drive on hard for next year. It's not all doom and gloom.

To be fair, Poacher was dealt a bad card after two managers stepped away in as many months. I've said my piece about the league, I'm prepared to mark the card and see what 2026 brings. But overall something has to change culturally... otherwise what's the point? Do we really want to go the way of Kilkenny footballers? I hope not.

No we don't and I dont think we will go the way of kilkenny....we are producing good footballers, but I agree there needs to be serious questions asked of the people running Leitrim football. I can't get my head around how we haven't started the league yet for example.

I mean, you don't have a hurling team to totally focus on like Kilkenny anyway, even though hurling is on the rise in the county, and your hurling team has arguably given you far better days out in 2025 than your footballers.
Don't fret, though! I've no doubt that 'poor ould Leitrim' will continue to entertain us all well in football in 2026 and in the years beyond!

As for Rossies I think they're like the cuckoo in the cuckoo clock. In and out looking for attention and notice but after a while nobody passes any heed and in fact it just gets annoying.

I haven't posted in a long time as I've been hugely disillusioned with where football is at in the county since we (needlessly) forfeited the game in the league. However, I still maintain we are producing more higher quality footballers then ever - Even if we lack in the conditioning stakes and a few other areas.
With the league starting next weekend a few of us where discussing how this might be the most cut-throat club season in 20 years.
To prove this I have put together a depth chart for all the senior clubs main players - From that it'll be interesting to see who people think have the strongest panels. from what I can see (in no order) Fenagh, Ballinamore, Leitrim Gaels and St Marys are the strongest panels. Mohill will really suffer without Shane Quinn and Jordan Reynolds. The addition of 3 Senior inter county standard players to Leitrim Gaels is exactly the match our club footballers needs to ignite it.
Aughawillan and Melvin Gaels seem to be by far the weakest - Having been destroyed by emigration and other issues (in Melvin Gaels case) so are severely weakened - The Willies may be blessed to have Melvin Gaels this weekend without County players as i'm sure they are both targetting eachother for a win.
Yes, I've more then likely forgot a few key players in these lists - feel free to add to it.
Ballinamore SOH: Tom Prior Paul Honeyman Cathal McHugh Shane Moran Paul Moran Michael McKiernan Michael McBrien Naoishe McManus Michael McKiernan
St Mary's: Killian Gaffey Mark Diffley Ben Guckian Adam Reynolds Nicholas McWeeny Paul Keaney Jack Casey Diarmuid Kelleher
Fenagh: Ryan O'Rourke Donal Wrynn Colm McLoughlin Jack Gilheany Riordan O'Rourke James Gilheany Ruairi O'Rourke Conall McGovern Eoin McLoughlin
Leitrim Gaels: Brian Cull Donal Casey, Shane Finn David Bruen Aidan Flynn Jack Flynn, Ryan Jones Liam Chandler, Garvan Jones Conall Jones
Mohill: Keith Beirne Keith Keegan Domhnail Flynn Conor Quinn Evan HArkin Liam Harkin Jack Rowley David Mitchell Jordan Reynolds (New York/Injury)
Glencar-Manor: Barry McNulty Paddy McGuire Evan Sweeney Conor Dolan Jack Kelly James Rooeny Tom Hughes Bailey McBride
Melvin Gaels: Cillian McGloin Joe McGloin Kieran Clancy
Aughawillan: Barry Prior Tom Plunkett Ciaran Gilheany Rory McTague

Replying To OhtobeARossie: "Will ye be fielding for yer last game of 2025" Uncalled for comment . Very few care more for the sport than Leitrim gaels who constantly battle agains the odds to improve their prospects. Fond memories of celebrating in '94 from a distance with followers from up to six other counties toasting their success in Connacht. So easy to be critical (yes, mistakes were made) but a little mutual respect between neighbouring counties never goes amiss . Ar scath a cheile srl. ……
