Agree, Manor completely deserved their win, major set back for Annaduff!

Definitely a setback from them but just the nature of this years championship where you can win 2 games and still get relegated. Manor just that bit more conditioned and clinical and deserved their win.

Was at the cloone game earlier, was surprised on how good the standard was. The game had it all, great scores, great hits and questionable goalkeeping. Looking forward to final, Eslin and bornaculla will be a ding-dung battle. MarysMan123 (Leitrim) - Posts: 23 - 29/09/2024 17:32:47 2572366 Link 0 |
Cloone will be sick the way they lost that won't get as good a chance of winning a championship for a while. Bornacoola probably will win the final be a tight battle but they would have younger legs than Eslin JimmyNail (Leitrim) - Posts: 252 - 29/09/2024 18:13:51 2572378 Link 0 |
The new smaller championships are starting to work. The trickle down has improved all competitions and next year's standards should be better again. Both Intermediate and Junior will be very competitive.

Should improve your competitiveness in the Connacht Club Intermediate and Junior competitions too. Has a Leitrim ream ever won one? Ballinamore came close few years back in Intermediate v Westport who went onto to win the All Ireland from what i remember. drumalee11 (USA) - Posts: 330 - 30/09/2024 10:06:02 2572476 Link 2 |
Very tough on Annaduff who, from what I seen played very well in the championship. Manor the better team on the day who are too big of a club to be in a relegation battle. They should push on next year with some good young players coming through. Leitrim01 (Leitrim) - Posts: 17 - 30/09/2024 11:44:29 2572500 Link 0 |
I read an article only last week that mentioned Eslin having a lot of young players coming through this year. That been said I think it's still Bornacoola's to lose.

Leitrim have never won a Connacht club title at any level. The only county in Connacht to have never won one. Closest I remember is Carriagallen loosing to Tourmackeedy of Mayo in the Connacht intermediate final of 2006 by 1 point. Ballinamore lost by 5 points in the one you mentioned in 2016. Kiltubrid beat coolera/standhill in 2005 and then drew with Roscommon's super club St Brigid's in carrick then drew again after full time in replay in Roscommon and lost by a point after extra time. If they won they'd have had Salthill/knocknacarra from Galway in carrick for the Connacht title - would have been some occasion but alas wasn't to be. Leitrim have been well out of being competitive in Connacht over the past numbers of years. Our clubs aren't just up to the standards of other counties championships. leitrim4sam (Leitrim) - Posts: 674 - 30/09/2024 14:15:13 2572547 Link 0 |
i might be wrong but i thought both Ballinamore and the Willies got to Connacht finals in senior, but lost.

Aughawillian bet Sligo team in 2014. Eslin got to Junior Connaught final in 2010 I think. leitrimlad15 (Leitrim) - Posts: 108 - 30/09/2024 15:53:56 2572577 Link 0 |
Ballinamore got to the senior final in 1990, Willie's 1992 & 1994 & Allen Gaels 1997. All lost obviously. Ballinamore got to a few finals before 1990. Last senior win was St Mary's in 2022 (vs St Kiernan's London).

Carrick got there as well in 1995. Amazingly when our club teams were very competitive so was our county team.

I'm hoping to attend the County Final on Sunday. I haven't seen either team all year. I was just wondering if anybody has seen the teams? And anybody outside the usual suspects that I should keep an eye out for? Weaternpro (Leitrim) - Posts: 63 - 01/10/2024 20:31:01 2572733 Link 1 |
The battle between Ballinamores young forward line against Mohills defense will be really interesting to watch. The two Mitchells are excellent experienced corner backs but they'll be coming up against Prior and Honeyman who have lit up the championship so far. I'd imagine Ryan Bohan will be playing just in front of the two Mitchells. He played like a man possessed against Fenagh pouncing on every ball and even for his small stature he dished out some massive hits. It'll be intriguing to see who comes out on top. Flynn and Shane Moran in the middle will also be a good watch. It's hard to know if either will be marking each other but both will have a massive impact on the game. Flynn has probably been Mohills most influential player this year and when Reynolds and Beirne were away he lead their attack. Moran looked back to his best against St Mary's he drove forward through their defense at every opportunity. He could also float inside which caused Mohill lots of trouble against Fenagh when D. Wrynne done the same. K Beirne was excellent for the first 15 minutes against Fenagh so if Mohill could get a full 60 minutes from him they'd be well on their way to victory. Viewing Wayne McKeons kick passing will also be worth the entrance fee alone. It's a tough one to call but I'm shading it to Mohill at the minute. Ballinamore play a good attractive style of football and they aren't afraid to kick the ball. But I just feel Mohill have more experienced heads who have done it all before. Mohill by a point in extra time. Hopefully its the titanic battle we all expect. Also great to see that it's on TG4. If it's anything like the previous final between these two were all in for a treat. Leitrimforliam (Leitrim) - Posts: 326 - 02/10/2024 08:34:31 2572751 Link 0 |
county final will be a close affair, lots of very good players on both teams. Mohill have serious experience in finals, and that might sway it. 2 extra weeks training under Keith Beirnes belt will help him no end. Mohill defence is decent too in fairness. Ballinamore have a lot of options upfront, but some of them are very young. not sitting on the fence but i can see it going to a draw and replay. if not then Mohill by 2. i hope the ref does a good job. lot of pressure on him with TG4 in town too. meathbasedfan (Leitrim) - Posts: 132 - 02/10/2024 09:10:22 2572754 Link 0 |

If you're talking about live updates then fair enough. And I did mention county websites linking from their website to Twitter feeds, and Leitrim GAA didn't even deign to provide any updates from... God I can't remember now, the senior relegation games maybe, I can't remember, it was ages ago when I started writing this. Anyhow, it does prove your point more than mine.

I can see SOH coming out strong in the first 15mins, going 2 or 3 up, Mohil will settle into the game and from then on it'l be score for score....unless Mohil get a goal it's SOH by +2 for me. straightred (Leitrim) - Posts: 56 - 03/10/2024 09:36:26 2572859 Link 0 |
