Seems like this idea of a third regional/divisional championship is one that most on here are agreeable to. It will be difficult to implement and would require widespread discussion. But I think everyone knows its the only way forward as well as still maintaining the integrity of our current club championship and hopefully slowing the decline of football in rural areas in leitrim.

Correct. It may not have been clear in my original post.
As someone has mentioned already Declan Bohan appears to have recognised the disaster that is looming. Hopefully he's not the only one in the County board. As squareball has said, it can be done.

Fenagh fortunate to win yesterday evening Aughawillan will feel they left that one behind them. Mary's always in control against Leitrim Gaels who probably happy enough to stay up considering the turnover of players. Two great Semi finals to look forward I assume they will be played in Ballinamore as will the final?

Were it a Ballinamore - Fenagh final it would surely be played in Cloone.

I know it's unlikely, but anything is possible.
What would happen if St Mary's B were to win Intermediate?
Would this affect the number of teams relegated from Senior?

Next year's championships will likely be far more competitive and hard to call with 3 teams relegated from senior and intermediate, aughavas will be extremely hard done by if they're relegated but that's how it goes

I believe that the runner up represents us in connacht and one team is saved from relegation. So my assumption there is only the relegation semi final losers go down, no final needed. Probably wishful thinking though!

St Mary's junior team could be significantly weekend as the weeks go on. I believe the rule is that if you play any senior knockout games you can't play for your clubs second team.

Any thoughts on stricter rules regarding second teams in Leitrim. Feels slightly disheartening to see teams like St Mary's who have been playing lads in senior championship advance to a quarter final in intermediate where as we have once proud Leitrim teams fighting to stay up?

How did carrick have lads playing yesterday in intermediate that started games in senior championship?

Sparkie I'm unsure how'd you'd like me to respond to this, St Mary's consistently have had players playing in both intermediate and Senior Championship. Now personally I believe stronger regulations need to be imposed otherwise we will see the demise of smaller rural clubs in Leitrim. Questions need to be asked in relation to player eligibility next year

Open to correction but The rule is first 15 and then first 3 subs and then after the group stages the club names 18 players and then anyone who plays knockout can't play the level below. So if Mary's had someone who played against Leitrim geals and then played against Ballinaglera the day after, they would have broken the rules. But if they had someone who played in the group stages and hasn't played since it's okay.

In some counties the rules are if you play for your first team at any stage you can't play the level below, this isn't the case for us.

Reality is if st Marys second string are better than some first teams, it raises the standard of the competition. Something the intermediate championship badly needs.

I believe the rule their first 18 (starting 15 plus 3 subs) that played the first round of senior championship can't play for the Juniors. Now that we are in the knockouts any players that play for their seniors from the quarter final to the final can't play for their juniors.

I don't think many clubs besides Mohill, Manor, St Mary's and Ballinamore would be able to put out second teams if stronger eligibility rules were brought in.

Both Intermediate Q/F fixed for mohill. Not a very central venue for the team involved.

It does seem a strange one. Drumshanbo seemed the obvious choice. Must be a reason for it.

Odd choices for the neutral venues this weekend!

Very strange,is there 4 dressing rooms there? I know parking not fantastic in drumshanbo but with carpark at the school there is something, but for a double header will be mayhem out the dromod road in mohill.
Is there a shop at pitch in mohill?
Is it to ease amount of games in ballinamore for bigger games ahead?
Cloone has no coverage for live streaming so id say thats why its not there

very hard to view a game properly in Mohill, only one side to view from and if you're not standing against the fence and if you're in anyway vertically challenged you'll miss bits of the action. Drumshanbo isn't being utilised enough, its a great facility, unless Allen Gaels aren't keen on letting it out.
