Was at the game in Gortletteragh yesterday evening , looked like Manor were in control all through with Evan Sweeney (especially first half) on fire. Fair play to Gortletteragh battled hard and finished much the stronger to get a draw and could have won it if they hadn't missed a second half penalty. Thought some of Gortlettraghs younger players like Oisin Niblock the two Cunninghams and Brendan Naughton (after a tough first half on Sweeney) were outstanding. Granted Manor were missing Barry McNulty but Gortletteragh were down at least six of last years team so it's a very credible result for them. Mohill away next week will be a massive test though. Manor have Leitrim Gaels at home next and will need to take the pressure off Evan Sweeney if they are going to make the knock outs. Padraic Davis was the man I wanted from day 1... understands Leitrim football and has a track record unlike a certain 'celebrity' manager. If Graham doesn't take the job, he has to be our next target.

Best of luck to the Leitrim Ladies today in Croker... no reason why they can't go out and do it. Up Leitrim! Square_B (Leitrim) - Posts: 1057 - 04/08/2024 09:34:03 2563746 Link 0 |
Fenagh getting the short straw with the draws from the big 4. If they don't beat SOH they could end up playing Mohil in the next round and be out of the championship. That's the down side to this format. They are arguably 10 points a better team than the other 6 teams in the championship lugdrum (Leitrim) - Posts: 357 - 04/08/2024 10:25:34 2563749 Link 1 |
But u were far better playing teams of ur own level for preparation for the later stages and if u lose against 3 of them u probably not good enough but if u do come through u would know more about the team than playing the lower ranked teams

Is that a new age grade competition. U25s? I believe it was a South Kerry selection, not the whole county

Padraig Davis won't be going back into County management.

Well done to the ladies. They could teach the lads a few things about working hard when under pressure. gaelsboy (Leitrim) - Posts: 579 - 04/08/2024 16:19:01 2563787 Link 1 |
It's refreshing to see the ball being kicked so much in a game like that today compared to the men's game. Great win

Firstly congrats Leitrim Ladies. On the above post I would have always had a similar view. But this format if the draw goes against you like it is for Fenagh for them to win the championship they have to be on top of their game every week for 7 gamesZ arguable will have to risk players with knocks. Look at Mohil they will be sure of a 1/4 final game at the very least after beating Dromahair & Gortletteragh who aren't even in Div 1 league. Realistically they only need to peak for 3 games now.

Leitrim should be immensely proud of the Leitrim ladies team today. Most sparsley populated county and to win intermediate is just an incredible achievement . The way they played brilliant open entertaining football and fought for each other was a sight to behold. The men's game needs to take stock of this. Today's games were 10 times better than the stifled negative handball that took centre stage last Sunday. Leitrim Abu!! Inatfullforward (Longford) - Posts: 110 - 04/08/2024 23:40:40 2563841 Link 0 |
A brilliant win for Leitrim ladies… They are surly the first team in ladies history to be playing Division 4 football and competing in the Senior Championship…?

Typo meant U15.yes a regional Kerry selection as will be same with a Galway West selection in Final. Nevertheless it was a great result & Leitrim needs to play games against strong opposition.
