I honestly think Andy Moran and his management team have a huge task ahead of them. I can't see us challenging to get out of Div 4, I hope I'm wrong. Cavan and Tipp are obviously the favourites, Sligo have got the better of us the last few times we have played, and Carlow and Wexford will be better this year than last year.

Nor can I after the game vs. Sligo but that will be down to Moran & his management team... what was the point of bringing him in otherwise if the ambition wasn't promotion? A lot of money was spent to put this management team together. I hope there will be a few additions to the squad like Mark Plunkett & Dean McGovern. I live in hope...

We will beat Tipp and that's the truth

And was very poor in the Sligo championship by all accounts.

Hard to know how this year will go but division 4 is probably the strongest ever this year with several teams thinking they have a chance of promotion. Only three home game's puts us on the back foot it's the third year in a row this has happened hardly fair although if we are serious about progressing we're going to have to go to difficult places and start getting results. Obviously only sligo game to go on so far but my concern for our defence that I've had for a few years still remains. We don't have enough quality defenders in the county at the minute and it's a huge problem for us. Does anyone know if the likes of Mark Plunkett , Shane Moran , Dean Mc Govern or Oisin Madden on the panel? We need all those involved to have a chance I think. Can't look beyond first two games we need a good start here's hoping.

Paddy Dowd involved with Gortletteragh this year dunno as manager or just involved in coaching. Interesting as he was let go as manager of his home club Clonguish recently.

I see Cavan handed out an almighty beating to Tyrone on Tuesday.... now I know it's McKenna cup and all that but it shows Cavan are rearing to go... if we're not rearing a similar beating will be in store.

Ah lads the intensity and tackling in packs was a sight to watch from Cavan. Going very strong for these games isn't like Mickey. I'm afraid we will be bet out the gate

Any word from any challenge games etc?
Are most clubs sorted with team managers at this stage?

If it's true that we've had fewer home games than away games then that's a disgrace. If a team has had fewer home games then some other team or greens have had more. I think I remember years ago how Fermanagh had (at that time) had more home games than away in only three of the previous ten years. That should be looked into big time.

I meant it's a disgrace if we've had more away games than home for three years running, not just one year.

It's one of the first things I always check when the fixtures come out and we always seem to have more away games, and away games against the tougher teams. I think the year we got promoted we had more home games than away but not 100% on this, this is the only recent one in the past 5-6 years I can think where it happened.

County board really need to ask questions about this.
It has a massive saying on who gets promoted- guess who has 4 home games and 3 away games this year?…- Cavan and Tipp have!

Any word on Captain and panel for league

It is hard to see Leitrim push for anything this year in the league. Tough run of fixtures & opponents. My hope would be for a exciting campaign at least, where we perform well and run the favs for promotion close and comfortably win some of the other games.

There was spells of positive play and improvement in the sligo game, however i don't read to much into FBD.

It will be interesting to see if Andy brings anything different to our style of play, intensity levels, our mindset to grind out results in tough games or stick with it when things aren't going our way.

Is there any talk on the club calendar master fixture plan. When it club league likely to start etc.

The panel is something very similar to this below. I'd say I'm missing 2 or 3 off it.

Goalkeepers;

Brendan Flynn
Darren Maxwell

Defenders:

David Bruen (C)
Donal Casey
Paddy Maguire
Fergal McTague
Conor Reynolds
Shane Quinn
Oisin Madden
James Mitchell
Mark Diffley
Conor Farrell
Jack Heslin
Ciaran Cullen
Noel Plunkett
Jack Gilheany

Midfielders:

Pearce Dolan
Donal Wrynn (VC)
Conor Cullen
Aaron Hoare
Dean McGovern

Forwards:

Mark Plunkett
Cillian McGloin
Shane Moran
Darragh Rooney
Ryan O'Rourke
Riordan O'Rourke
Keith Beirne
Evan Sweeney
Tom Prior
Paul Keaney
Emlyn Mulligan

Looking forward to this game on Sunday. A bigger game for a lot of the boys on the panel than many might think with such a crossover of schools etc in the south of the county.
I must say I've never heard so many of the players so impressed with a manager and a management team.
However, this could all get very bleak if we lose our first two games to Cavan and Tipp.
Cavan in particular are arguably a division two team.
The goal for this year has to be to compete for promotion and then make an impact in the B championship.
The word is Cavan are missing Gearoid McKiernan and 2 or 3 other starters so that is a great boost.

I really worry about our full back line. We haven't settled on a fullback now in about 5 years and the word is Mark Diffley might get a chance here going forward which is a very 'left-field' move to say the least.

I also worry about number 6 - another position we haven't nailed down. Donal Casey looks like he will start here but that means you've a very inexperienced spine with Casey and Diffley. If Wrynn starts I'd imagine he'll drop in to cover. Jack Heslin has been used at wing back this year but it'll be interesting to see if he selects him here if the rest of the back line is so inexperienced.

In Plunkett, Rooney, O'Rourke and Beirne we have four forwards who would get on most teams in Ireland. We need to get them fast ball in space.

Be interesting to see what Midfielders will he go with. One of the Cullens maybe or Pearce Dolan might finally start to come through.

Hopefully the lads give a good account of themselves on Sunday. I'd expect a huge crowd as the Cavan fans will travel.

My guess would be that the team will be something like this.

Brendan Flynn

Oisin Madden/Conor Reynolds Mark Diffley Paddy Maguire

David Bruen Donal Casey Shane Quinn

Donal Wrynn
Cillian McGloin

Shane Moran Mark Plunkett Jack Heslin

Ryan O'Rourke Keith Beirne Darragh Rooney

Does anyone know what's the story with ticket prices? Is there a rate for kids or is it a one size fits all model. €10 ?
I'm flying solo with two kids 5+2...is there such a thing as a ticket for a weanling anymore?
I don't see the point in paying a €10r for a 2 year old but there is no option or info on the website (?)

Best of luck to Liatroim
