Replying To The_analyser:  "One of our most depressing championship defeats/exit. We had Clare beat 1-17 to 1-12 ahead yet Clare given the kiss of life with the penalty to turn around the momentum of the match out of nothing.

That will be the end of Cunningham now not that i ever thought he'd stay on for a 5th year but the players tonight will have a long hard look at themselves how they let a quarter final place slip through their fingers but perhaps a blessing in disguise imagine the beating we'd get off Dublin or Kerry."
They are in a great place now. Playing D1 football next season. I wouldn't be in a hurry of getting rid of Cunningham. Remember last time nobody wanted the job. Cunningham was last chance salvation.

Beat Galway twice this year including once in Croke Park. Okay today was a bad day but remember last year, they did not win a match all year.

It's the same story with Roscommon footballer.. when was the last time we put in a full performance for a game. I actually don't know what to say about our defence apart from we don't have one. We haven't the slightest notion how to defend. Its been embarrassing. We need to look outside the county for top quality coaches because we don't have anything in the county. I myself probably thought we were better than we actually are in all areas

Replying To MachaireConnacht:  "Can't believe they lost after getting themselves 5 points up with a few minutes left. Did brilliant to get back into it and finally play with a bit of urgency. Why couldn't they bring that to the first half? Is that management or player's? Tried to be too smart at the end killing time instead of pushing for a few more scores. Shambolic defending led to the penalty."
To be honest it's probably a good thing we aren't going any further because we would have got embarrassed by Dublin Kerry or Derry.. we are a good division 2 team and that's it. We will never go any further because after years and years of this we never learn. I'm so disappointed and can't believe management were so daft to think we could play this game plan when during the league every team were creating goal chances and running through us at ease.. I can see a few lads packing it in now even tho they should be in their prime. Cunningham has to go along with everyone involved because we need a completely new start. Clare were the better team for 50 minutes. That says it all

After 2019, Roscommon have been terrible under Cunningham in the championship. Lame and tame performances and exits. We can't tackle. We can't defend. As has been said, we'd have taken a hiding from Dublin or Kerry. We have some good players. Some. Cunningham will go now. He should have gone last year. The important thing now is to get the right Manager and see where that takes us. The new Manager will have to address Roscommon's defensive frailties if we're to go anywhere. Roscommon are unbelievably loose at the back for a team now in division 1. We also seemed today to have learned nothing from the defeat against Galway.Clare are a mediocre team who I'd say will be hammered the next day. Roscommon is a gaa county to it's core and days like today hurt. Maybe we expect too much.I don't know.

And just another thing is have we any leaders in the team. Today we needed enda smith the Daly's to stand up and I didn't see it in anyone.

Hard luck lads, great game I really enjoyed it. Truth is, Clare beat both yourselves and Meath, and you would be of similar 'standard'. Clare are just that bit better.

The signs were even there in the Sligo game. Clare player's looked like they could actually tackle effectively. I fear the calibre of manager that is needed to get more out of the team is not present in the county and will not be able to be attracted in by the county board.

Terrible result and performance today but can't say I'm surprised. The attitude was off for the whole first half and that's very disappointing. We played ok for maybe 15 mins of that game and that's all - that's not enough to win any championship game. Cunninghams tactics were beyond belief, we are probably the only team in the country who could let a 5 point lead slip in 5 minutes with how badly we are set up. Galway had the Connacht final over at half time with a 5 point lead because they knew how to shut a game down, we don't and never have done. Some of these supposed great forwards we have are being overhyped by us in the county I feel. It's a long way back for some of this team I feel and we will have our work cut out in division 1 next year. We need a new manager without doubt, making the same mistakes over and over is just unforgivable at this level.

Can't disagree with that. Roscommon don't seem to get out of league mode in championship. No bite or hunger.

Who will take over. They were not exactly knocking down the doors the last time.
Flanagan maybe approached.

Clare fully deserved the win. They were better drilled better coached team. I really hope they go give a good account of themselves in quarter final because I love what they doing in what is a hurling county

The thing is do we look outside the county for a top manger and a top backroom team. Just watching it back on sky sports now and listening to Jim McGuiness talk about our defence set up and sweeper in Galway game and it's an eye opener.

Pat Flanagan has to be an option at this stage. I would consider an approach for jim mcguinness. Why not?? He would sort it defensively for sure and raise standards! Another option could be Kevin walsh. Another defensively minded manager. Opinions?

I wouldn't go for Kevin Walsh. I wonder would Jim McGuinness take the Roscommon job. What about Fergal O'Donnell or is he estranged from the County Board. Nigel Dinneen got us to two All Ireland U21 Finals with many of these players. There needs to be change anyway. Cunningham has run out of road.

Can't see McGuinness back in GAA anytime soon and if he does I'd imagine it would be with Donegal again next year. Stephen Rochford was mentioned the last time the job came around, I wonder would he be considered? This looks likely to be his last year in Donegal. I'm not sure he was the most defensively minded manager either however.

Kevin O'Brien might be an option. He plays an exciting brand of football

Pretty much my opinion too. Tactically poor in 1st half. We finally get a midfield that can compete and we conceded every Clare short kickout until the second half. When we pressed up we destroyed them for 30 minutes and showed the quality that is in this team. To waste the talent thats in the panel (and getting older now) is most frustrating. Dont know if we need a new manager (the debacle last time is still fresh) but we need an external defensive coach brought in as well as a full back and centre back from somewhere (Walshe &Mullooly?) . On a separate note the refereeing of our match was truly awful, a recent conversion from a non-contact sport perhaps.
Congrats to Clare and best of luck in 1/4 final.
