Replying To suckvalleypaddy:  "Ros are favourites with all the experts on RTE podcasts etc and they deserve this label.
Its up to Galway to match this challenge. On the day, anything could happen.
Best of luck to both sides on Sunday, 2 good teams on display."
Why have the bookies got it wrong?
Poor bookies.

Interesting team selection if its the one that starts as it appears Roscommon are going to go after Galway.

Good luck to Ross and all involved and safe travels to all.

Unfortunately won't be in Salthill as its just too expensive for a family to travel across the country for a day in top of tickets. Heading to Croke Park and looking forward to seeing some of Dublin v Meath in ladies final in the curtain raiser. Was a great battle last year in all Ireland final and well done to all concerned for putting it on the same bill similar to their munster counterparts. Any curtain raiser to connacht final tomorrow considering the price of tickets.

Replying To kiloughter:  "I take your point but Shane has been struggling with a niggly injury since the league game in Cork. Still very effective on placed balls and his talent alone commands attention. Damo was very effective in Castlebar and we will need both firing on Sunday. I am hoping McDaid will start in midfield to counter the influence of Harney. McDaid is an absolute athlete and has been hampered by injury since he returned from Oz. Not unlike your man as both have never had an opportunity for a consistent run in the team. Although you may not want to hear it the D. Murtagh goal in the league final I am hoping is the best thing to happen to us. Well taken bit we never should have afforded him that room. Our defence I don't expect to be as generous on Sunday and do what ye did to us in the 2nd half of the 2019 final. Still though having said all this a 50/50 final."
Is Walsh not at full tilt yet? Hopefully we've sorted our kick outs as ye got some joy when Lavin was put under pressure the past two games.

Replying To endgame:  "The three Daly brothers in defence .Eoin McCormack will be disappointed. Always glad to see Conor Hussey start for Roscommon. Galway look strong but so do we. Don't think Galway have beaten Roscommon in a Connacht Final in Salthill since 1974.. Best of luck to Roscommon . A big Roscommon support will travel . I still remember being out on the pitch in Salthill after the 2019 win .Let's hope for a repeat tomorrow,"
Eoin McCormack had a very good year so far but maybe he's thinking this will be very physical early on and having all the Dalys on the field would be advantageous?

Decent final with the better team winning, Galway never looked like losing it, the two league games took place when Galway had already moved their preparation towards the championship but today was always likely to be different. Roscommon got a good draw so now find themselves one game from a QF but apart from the loser of Ulster the teams coming through Round 1 will fancy their chances against Limerick, Kildare and Roscommon.

Replying To maximus02:  "Look, I'm of the view that Diarmuid should definitely be starting all day long. Thats my opinion of seeing him perform over the last 8 years or so and i'd consider him a big game player. No doubt he has had a few poor games over that time too but every forawrd has. A couple of yere forwards were't that hot the last day too. Hoping for a good final the next day, the championship has been a bore so far."
So as i predicted a few weeks ago, Galway will win very comfortably and Roscommon would only bring on D Murtagh when the game was practically over (losing by 7 points playing into a strong breeze). And again he makes a decent impact scoring 1-1 and setting up the other goal with limited possession and puts some respectability on to the final scoreline. Absolutely ridiculous leaving one of the best forwards in Connacht in reserve for so long. when D Smith, Cox, Mckeon and E Smith were all v quiet. I was beyond shocked that they at least didn't bring him on at half time, wonder does he not get on well with Anthony Cunningham. Ultan Harney was outstanding outstanding for Ros as was Walsh and Finnerty for Galway.

Defensively were as bad as a division 3 team. I couldn't believe how we let Galway run through us all day. Management have to take alot of the blame today with how we set up. They dragged Niall Daly out of CB and ran through us all day. Just so disappointing to not lay a hand on them. Galway on the other hand conceded 2-16 playing with 14 behind the ball for 70 mins.

Bookies and the punters had Galway to win by 2 and ended up winning by 3. So congratulations to Galway who proved why they were favourites.

2-16 a scoring total that should be good enough to win most finals matter of fact we only scored 1-13 when winning the 2019 final.

Defensively a major issue, signs of that was seen during the league and we simply had no structure to our defence at all and got all match ups wrong.

At best we'll reach the All-Ireland Quarter finals now and that will depend on the draw.

Fine game. Galway deserved to win. You have to attack at speed. Roscommon didn't.

Walsh deserved MOTM. But I was a bit disappointed when the SG team didn't at least mention Ultan Harney as a possible contender. He put in a heroic shift!

No defensive lessons learned from the league final or Sligo games. Opened up at will. Everything seemed to come down our right side in the first half. I would have Richard Hughes starting ahead of David Murray the next day out. In fairness we really improved on our kick outs. Thought Lavin was excellent. Ultan Harney battled to the end. Shouldn't have been a shock that Galway were going to be tighter at the back. Did even 3 of our starting 6 forwards score? No complaints, Galway were full value for the win.

Good luck going forward. Genuinely think you have a good side with a great chance of making the QFs.

your forwards had a high wide count by their usual standards.

Harney was a joy to watch

Hate to admit it but Paddy Andrews is right, Roscommon far too nice. Brian Stack fouled a Galway player on the Galway half backline near the end. Think it was the first time Roscommon did that all day despite Galway counter attackingeasily all day. All the top teams do that in those positions.

Ye took some great scores yerselves today. Credit to the Galway defense, completely rattled our forwards. We had to work so much harder for our scores. Yer half back line was excellent

We lost because of how poorly we defended. Diarmuid can start the next day and we'll lose again if we repeat that effort of defending. I'd say Galway themselves can't believe at how loose we marked throughout that game.

Roscommon let down by what can be described by social distancing defending. The reaction levels was way off the two Galway goal summed that up.

Only two weeks to fix those defensive issues I don't think its enough for Cunningham and his management team.

Our defending or lack thereof has been an issue for sometime. It won't be remedied in 2 weeks. We didn't lay a hand on Walsh or Finnerty who did as they pleased. Ultan Harney was outstanding and we scored 2.16 and were denied a penalty. However, until we address our poor defending, Roscommon are going nowhere. Best of luck to Galway who were well deserved winners today. I think though that Roscommon made Galway look better than they are. Great Roscommon support in Salthill. Pity there was so little for us to cheer about. The team selection will be questioned. Should McCormack and Hughes have started and is it the right call to start Diarmuid Murtagh on the bench. And will somebody please tell Enda Smith to look up when he makes those surging runs and see what's around him. We could have had a goal before Galway had either of theirs if he saw and passed to Eddie Nolan.

It's not enough.. we all saw problems during league and game against Sligo.. when a division 4 team can cut your defence open multiple times then surely you realise something is wrong. Game plan totally wrong today.. have we a defensive coach??
