Replying To letsgetgoing:  "I forgot to mention that all the fights (& recorded fights) are being shown live on YouTube. (IBA Womens World Boxing Championships 2025).
Lisa O Rourke had a great win tonight stopping her opponent in the second round.
Both the O'Rourke sister will be fighting for medals tomorrow (Thursday) evening/night. The main session begins at 5.00pm Irish time and 6.00pm in Serbia I think.
Lisa O Rourke is the 9th fight in session 9B (I presume that is ring B)
Aoife O Rourke is the 11th fight in session 9A (I presume that is ring A)
Up the Rossies and Ireland."
I see both have reached the finals talented sisters well done to them.

Got up early this morning for what could turn out to be one of the really big days in Roscommon sport.
Hopefully the team will have a little too much for Cavan and we may have to depend on a strong looking bench to get us over the line with a great chance of promotion back to division 1.

Hope to be well back in Dublin to view Lisa and Aoife O' Rourke both fighting for IBA World Championship GOLD medals on YouTube tonight. Both are fighting Russian opponents. Having watched all of their fights so far, I expect Aoife to win if she maintains her form and Lisa has a great chance also, although she is facing a quality boxer in Gapeshina. Both Lisa and Aoife are very talented boxers, powerfull, and extremely fit. Would thing you can be sure of, is that they will give it absolutely 100% and leave everything in the ring. Hopefully we might get to see some medals at half time in Mullingar next Sunday. Best of luck to the Rossies and the O' Rourke sisters today/tonight.
Can't wait for all the action to begin!

Pat Spilane had Roscommon down as All-Ireland contenders in the paper today. They are making heavy weather out of this promotion hunt.

We had chances to win that match such as missing a open goal 2nd half but over the 70 minutes Cavan without a doubt deserved their win.

Main question now is how damaging that defeat will be for our promotion hope's? We need Cavan to beat Cork, Meath beat louth and we to beat Westmeath.

Ye are going to be really sweating over the results in the Cork v Cavan and Louth v Meath games in the last round now!
If ye end up in a two-way tie with just Cavan or just Meath, then ye will lose out on the head-to-head rule.

If it is a 3-way tie, then it will be decided on scoring difference and ye should be ok.

If Down beat Monaghan and there are also wins for Cavan, Meath and Roscommon, then we would end up with a 4-way tie. In that case, Monaghan and Roscommon would likely go up on scoring difference.

Lol, the way we are defending ATM junior b players could run through out defence. Defenders now have to to win their individual battle. Same old story lost the midfield and most of the breaking balls. Credit to cavan they deserved the win and were well coached with a few brilliant individual performances.

We made a right mess of that one. Cavan the better team on the day and imo hungrier for the breaking ball. Can see Meath making a mess of it next week and losing out head to head against Cavan next week. Won't be taking Westmeath for granted either.

Beaten today and in all honesty, Cavan deserved their win so fair play to them. We were well off the pace. Missing an open goal from 3 yards out certainly doesn't help! On a positive note, Conor Hand in full flight is a joy to watch, unbelievable pace and balance. Listening to Davy interview after it, you would hope there is a real reaction this week. It's out of our own hands but all we can do is take care of our own game. Meath will get nothing easy from Louth. Cork will want to finish on a high too. Any word on when Brian Stack will be available? Could do with the likes of him and Niall and Conor Daly available

I was at the game earlier in the Hyde and Cavan were the better team on the day. Some big mistakes on the line from Davie not starting Doyle and also leaving Diarmid Murtagh on the bench at the start. Davie should have gone out to close the deal today with starting a strong team but instead he gambled and lost. I thought his interview was ridiculous saying our league was over. All to play for next week, these players need to be playing in D1 in order to improve.

senan lamb and cathal heneghan should have being brought on instead of colm neary and daire cregg who are just back from injury . A lot of players not playing in the same positions they play for their clubs , do not think this manager getting the best out of this group of players . Naming players on teams and praising players on papers and not playing them looks like he afraid to try something different

Team are better off than not getting the kiss of death off Spillane. Roscommon are team capable of reaching the last eight of the championship as they proved last year no further than that because simply they are consistent enough to go any further.

Before this league started Cork away would probably be marked down as a game that Roscommon could lose yet won pulling up and Cavan at home one they should be winning but the opposite has happened because Roscommon are so inconsistent.

Need favours of Cavan and Meath to win next weekend now to gain promotion and Cork,Louth might have something to say about that.

Best team won. Very worried about our ability to defend and tackle. Just not good enough. Apart from Conor hand today I can't take any positives

With all respect to everyone involved what's the point in going up to division one again - don't need favours off anyone we need the roscommon team to play to their potential consistiently if that's what they've been doing then we're a division 2 team plain and simple -

The point is avoiding becoming a 4th seed in the All Ireland series group stage should Roscommon as expected lose to Galway in the expected Connacht semi final. Going up to Division one again guarantees you'll be playing for Sam again in 2026. Only takes a injury hit season or poor run of form to fall into the Tailteann cup.

Finally only promoted team that don't need a favour off another team now is Monaghan as if they beat Down they will be promoted.

Lack of defending capability a major concern.
Also our much vaunted forwards butchered so
many opportunites ...
I saw on another forum 8 of Cavan's 1st half points came after we fumbled/lost ball in attacks.
Poor day"at the office for players (Hand, McKeon excepted?) and management.

An awful lot of expectations dampened or indeed ended today.

It's all fallen very flat. We were giddy with excitement at our free scoring forwards. Even Spillane thought Roscommon All Ireland contenders. Now we can't even beat Cavan at home and we're depending on other teams and results or it's another year in Division 2. A reality check for us ambitious Rossies on this St. Patrick's day. Our Defence is porous, not nearly good enough and nothing has been done to remedy or rectify that. We made a very ordinary Meath team look good. We hammered Cork by the Lee but how many open goals did they miss against us. Our Manager isn't good enough at this level and that's been obvious from day 1 .Why didn't he start his best team today or what was that team selection all about. It's disappointing because it's the hope that kills you and I had high hopes even a few weeks ago but not now.

No the point is we shouldn't be depending on favours from teams to get promoted - last year Donegal and Armagh were n division 2 win their games and went straight back up - we are not at the level of the top teams and not good enough to compete with them by the looks of league performances .if we're sitting last day of league hoping for favours
That will keep us away from top seeded teams and eventually the tailteann cup that says it all and that is the point !
