Poor performance today. Meath simply wanted it more and were the better team. If we don't pick up 2 points Saturday night we will be in division 2 next year again.

not physical enough today , did not kick the ball enough when playing with the wind ,no good having a good panel
if you keep playing the same players

Meath full value for their win and repeat that performance against Monaghan in Navan ahd they'll win again. A team full of big strong physical players under Colm O Rourke they were certainly underachieving.

We looked sluggish thoughtout like a side off the back of a heavy training session with not much energy in the legs. Saying all that we conceded two goals in a minute that was so preventable and when the game was level with 20 minutes to play Meath made good use of the wind advantage to score three two pointers in a row. Our 4 point lead at half time was never going to be enough.

Hopefully just a bad day at the office and we can bounce back with a win against Cork next Saturday.

Can't have any complaints today, better team won. We couldn't handle the physicality Meath brought. Diarmuid was wrapped up well, took or biggest threat away. Enda looked like a man that wasn't fully ready, hopefully he won't feel any effects after that. Got well bet on our kickouts, and still kicked it to the same place for the majority of 2nd half. Didn't get a lot from McQuillan today, let a lot go. Hopefully Donie and Ciarain aren't too badly hurt and we can go to Cork with as close to full panel as possible. Next Saturday is a huge game. I always felt we needed at least 4 out of 6 points from this block of games. We've dropped 2 now so have very little room for error

Best team won today; no doubt about that. Were well coached, played the conditions better, and seemed to be able to break tackles better than us which lead to more scoring chances.
All to play for now and while Roscommon, Meath and Monaghan are all on 6 points each, Monaghan have a scoring difference of +19, Meath +16 and Roscommon +6.

Depending on the other results we may have to win all of our matches to get promotion.
Roscommon:........ Cork (away), Cavan (home), Westmeath (away)
Meath:................... Westmeath (away), Monaghan (home), Louth (away)
Monaghan:........... Louth (away), Meath (away), Down (home).

Both Meath and Monaghan have to play each other, and they also both have to play Louth (away) who will be fighting hard to also get into the promotion mix / avoid relegation / play in the full championship. All to play for.

Monaghan a similar level to Louth with Meath being our easiest game so far."
Found this post to be a bit bizzare at the time did such loose chat get into the minds of the players today?

Meath were always going to be a much different outfit this year with All Ireland club winning manager brought in and Corey Monaghan , McMahon of Tyrone part of his management plus a number of Meaths best and most physical players returning with a clear plan to push for promotion.

I have been saying it for a while that meath were the team to watch this year. Living close to border of meath there is a buzz there. The only game where I thought we done well this year was Monaghan game. Down louth we weren't great and better forwards would have punished us. Meath were 10 points the better team yesterday. Cork Saturday is massive for this team

Down scored 1-20 against us from 19 shots. Meath the better team yesterday and fully deserved their but let's not ignore the two goals in a minute set them on their way in a match they won by seven and we messed up some big goal scoring chances which was also seen against Monaghan but didn't get anyway with it yesterday.

Still February and some early Lesson learnt on giving away such poor goals and not clinical enough on goal chances created I hope.

As for Meath it will be interesting to see how they build on what was their 3rd win in a row yesterday, new management and those wins certainly has their brought their supporters out in force. They should beat Westmeath next by a bit to spare then Louth (A) Monaghan (H) will be promotion deciders for them.

Colm Neary had injury problems last year. He was excellent for the first two League matches so let's hope he's back soon.

Take a 14 point win against Cork any day but we definitely should not get carried away as Cork's shooting was diabolical. Top scorers were Dermot 0-7 , Conor 0-6 and Ben 1-3. Best I have seen Ben and Shane Cunnane playing in a while. Still improvement needed on our kickout strategy but more positives than negatives.

Professional display whereby game was basically won when Enda Smith converted the penalty on 50 minutes Cork wide/shot count got inflated after that as they got desperate with wild shots and looking for goals.

Higgins marked Chris Og Jones out of the game and Davy Murray delivered the needed experience in defence on his first start this year. Much better in midfield this week with Doyie, Cunnane,Enda,Harney competing well.

Diarmuid Murtagh wasn't going to held scoreless for a 2nd match. Ben rewarded with 1-3 for his solid showing and Conor Hand superb again.

Cavan up next who have won three games in a row so another big game in this promotion race. Safe travel home to rossies that attended the match and that win should make the journey a lot shorter now.

What's Roscommon's starting defense come summer? Forwards and midfields are easier pick and are both flying it, but the defense would worry me come championship time. I think my six would be, including indecisions:

Niall Higgins
Brian Stack
Davy Murray
Shne Cunnane or Dylan Ruane
Ronan Daly or Ruairi Fallon
Colm Neary

The problem is we're changing it so much each week that you'd like to see a defense starting to solidify come end of league and getting used to working together as a unit. Hopefully Brian and Colm are recovered soon as both are essential to our defense.

Good showing from a lot of players. Consistency is key for us. Much tougher tests to come. Two week break now will be good. Hopefully get a couple of players back to get some minutes into their legs.

played some good stuff today especially ben conor hand keith doyle and niall higgins, However cork missed a few goals and had a lot of wides as some of our collective defending was poor,

Good performance on Saturday but the next two matches will be no pushovers. Cavan are going for promotion and they know that the game against Roscommon is do-or-die for them. If they can win this match they will be on the same number of points as Roscommon, and have won the head to head battle, with have their last match at home against Cork.
Westmeath have a very young and promising team and have been very unlucky not to have any points on the board. For example there were beating Meath today by a point with a couple of minutes left only to concede a goal at the very end to loose by three.
Should be a bit crowd in the Hyde for the next match against Cavan.

Cavan is now a "must win" game.
