Replying To Gaa_lover:  "2019 would probably be the last time Roscommon was ranked as top 6 championship team. Had reached the last eight of championship for three years in a row and won 2019 Connacht championship by beating Mayo and Galway in their home patch. Would it be right to say Covid came at the wrong time to knock things back?"
I'd agree covid stopped the momentum that seemed to be building up. This season is the last roll of the dice for a few great servants of Roscommon football.

Agreed it's a shame McCormack is taking a year out this year as he had really established himself as a key player but best of luck to him and hope to see him back next year. Championship team if everyone was fit?

You have Fallon playing in 2 positions?!
Is this a new tactic by Davy?

You have Fallon at both 6 and 7. He's a good player but not that good. I'd expect Cian McKeon to be a starter. Don't know about Doyle and Nolan being our midfield. Big men but would that partnership be mobile enough.

Ultan Harney not on the panel this year? and didn't John McManus,Shane Killoran return.

Midfield will come down to the kickout strategy with the new rules. 2 big men might be necessary.

The alternatives I see are Fallon in the midfield with Daly at center back or maybe Kenny playing wing back and letting us get another shooter in up top.

Yes, a fully fit Ultan Harney will be a nailed on midfielder. What a player he is when fully fit. I'd imagine Eddie Nolan will probably partner Ultan but I expect Doyle to see plenty of game time too. Shane Cunnane had a brilliant season last year in my book and I expect him to really push on this year too. Think he can be a really influential player for Ros in future years. He's a lovely play maker and pulls the strings linking defence to attack really well. Overall it's a very exciting time for us supporters. A lot of potential in this squad and I just hope we get it all this year and in the years to come. On a side note, does anyone know why Jack Duggan is not on the squad? Was he told he wouldn't be selected and hence transferred back to Longford or is he just taking time out? I thought he was definitely one for the future. Think the new rules would have suited his game too

Harney and Nolan are the best midfield options if fully fit, big season for Kilroaran as he has never hit the heights that he's capable of for the county team. Can he nail one of the midfield positions. It's could be a blessing in disguise playing in D2 as it gives the manager plenty of opportunities to rotate players.

One of our best players with very consistent performances not getting a look in is Shane cunnane. I had big question marks over him but he proved me wrong last summer when he was so consistent and was putting in 8/10 performances every game. So hopefully he can continue that form into this year. Id agree Nolan and Doyle don't have the legs to play together so harney or Fallon might be best with one of them or Shane cunnane. Plenty of headaches for management this year

Can't believe I left out Harney… and killoran. Both will give us much needed depth around the middle, killoran was very good in 2019 Connacht final has plenty to offer after good club championship with Elphin.

Revised prediction for championship team, 5 proper forwards there and Kenny well able to shoot also to try make advantage of new rules. Ruane and Fallon loads of energy and workwear in half back line and hopefully the league can unearth 1/2 other options down that end of the field.

Yeah this is for championship, not the Down game. What kind of shape are we in for the start of the league I wouldn't be near as well informed as some on here. Doubt we will se many pearses lads vs Down? Any other injuries etc.

I don't think Duggan has transferred back to Longford.
If he had, he surely would be on the Longford panel, which he is not.
He's injured at the moment and requires an operation, some injury that has troubled him the last year or two.
He would not be available for Ros this year as a result of it.

Was an article published a few weeks ago naming Roscommon players in and out for the year ahead. Duggan was among the out no longer on the panel.
