The first game of the League is always a step into the unknown especially with so many changes to the squad. Add in the Brids lads and Enda unavailable.
Well be doing well to get anything out of this game.
Didn't expect to see James Fitzpatrick making the bench till later in the campaign.
This is a make ir break year for him.
Also has Gillooly given up on the County scene?"
Derry I see are starting three Glen players tonight short term gain for long term pain? I hope our decision to rest the Brigids lads will be rewarded.

Not sure about Gillooly maybe travel planned before returning for club championship in August.

He has strained his groin and is out for the first 2 league games unfortunately. So disappointing as he looked to be in great shape. Hopefully he comes back stronger again and can help push us to safety in the league. Fair play brigids on new management team. Impressive line up with Cunningham and Mooney. Having seen Owen coach last three years with Caulry your players will love him. Very good on the line to. Caulry lads did want him to go

Disappointing result. Might have nicked a draw at the end (debatable square ball decision) but our 2nd half performance against 14 man Tyrone for 25 minutes simply deserved a defeat.

Our defensive organisation was a mile off from any Division one game last year the loss of Mark McHugh showing already? Must win game against Galway next Sunday now.

Thought we were very poor all over the field. What was our game plan defensively and in attack. Few of our forwards were very poor. Like we were playing a very weakened Tyrone team and they deserved the win.

Had that game marked down for a Tyrone win, they were missing some important players but have U20 2022 All Ireland winners to step in.

Ben O'Carroll, Brian Stack, Ultan Harney, Enda Smith, Cathal Heneghan, Ruaidhri Fallon, Tadgh O'Rourke, Conor Hussey, Ronan Daly all missing today for Roscommon who would have either started or featured today If available.

Also have to deal without Cian McKeon, Conor Daly, Ciaran Murtagh all there championship starters last year and gone travelling for the year that's far too many out and expected to win any away Division 1 game.

Men against boys summons up the game. We didn't have the conditioning against 14 players. The galway game is a now win

Very disappointing performance and result. I expected us to do much better even without the missing players. It was much too easy for Tyrone when they were down to 14 men. Niall Morgan must have got about 5 kichouts away (to his left) to an unmarked Tyrone player in a row. Difficult to determine what the game plan was in the second half?
You do have to give credit to Tyrone as there shooting in blustery conditions was first class. We now have to now get 4 points at least from the next three games (Galway, Dublin, Monaghan) starting next Sunday.
Good amount of Roscommon supporters at the game which was great to see given the travel distance, match on TV, weather conditions etc.

Conor Carroll is developing in to a top keeper. That's about it though from today. I know we were missing players but we had an extra man for most of the second half and did nothing with it. Davy Burke talks a good game but I'm starting to wonder is it just talk. Without Mark McHugh around, our defence did not impress. I don't understand why Cox is starting. A bad misplaced pass from him started the rot in the second half. Galway have problems too. Their best players are injury prone and they haven't kicked on at all from reaching the All Ireland final in '22. Can't understand how they're among the favourites for Sam. Next Sunday in The Hyde is a big game . The loser will be heading for the drop I'd say. Any chance of the Brigid lads being available for the Galway game. At least Enda Smith has served his suspension. We just don't have the strength in depth to carry those losses as today's toothless display showed.

Oh for gods sake end game will u ever stop criticising managers - first off it's day one of league yes disappointing result but that's about it we're a small County and Down a lot of players had the goal been awarded we'd have got a draw so even playing poorly there wasn't a lot in it -
There's 6 games left hopefully we get enough wins I think we all agree a good run in championship and that elusive championship win n croke park has to be the goal this year
Ultimately If we don't can u please move on from questioning managers it's been constant with u since John evans time

If the team plays poorly, I'll always look at the reasons. We were down a number of players today and I understand that but Roscommon had an extra man for nearly all of the second half and made no use of it. We have lost Mark McHugh from the Management setup and I think it showed in our defence or lack of today. This forum is about opinions and that 's what makes it interesting. Davy promised a good performance today and we certainly didn't get that. Let's hope for better against a Galway team well off the pace themselves today. Btw do you think Davy should be starting Cox.

I'm not going to comment on individual players don't see them in training and don't know the managers vision -
We had mark mchugh last year and it wasn't perfect either - so maybe just maybe give the management and lads a chance - personally I'm
Still Excited for what's to come beating Tyrone today wud be been nice but let's remember we done that last year in the league and were shattered n cork in June !

Roscommon were poor yesterday and let's not cod ourselves that we only lost by 3 points or that we'd have got a draw if the late goal had stood. I saw a Tyrone poster on another forum describe Roscommon yesterday as the worst Division 1 team he had ever seen come to Omagh. I agree with you that it's about the championship and that it's about where we are in June not January but we need players back because some of who played for us yesterday are nowhere near the standard required at this level and that's the reality of it.

That's perfectly fine but stop calling out managers as the problem is the point -
It's not Davys fault that enda was suspended that brigits lads were not available or that we had injuries to a few of our lads that were starters
So calm down - I'd prefer to have everyone fit and ready for championship than flying it yesterday

Poor stuff all around yesterday - disappointing considering we were in the game up until half time. nearly 25 minutes without a score is not good enough in any division.

Impressed with Conor Carroll yesterday, some top saves. We looked very inexperienced and naive yesterday, had an extra man and we didn't push up or pressure Niall Morgan's kickout. Darragh Canavan was excellent but you'd imagine Brian Stack may have kept him on a tighter leash.

A few of that starting team will be lucky to regain their spots next week in my opinion.

Must win game next week against Galway. Can't see any points coming from the Dublin, Kerry and Derry games so it'll all come down to Connaught derbies and the home game v Monaghan.

Our forwards were non-existent yesterday. Connolly, Lennon and Cox didn't get a look in. Apart from scoring the goal I thought Donie Smith had a very poor game and only for frees I thought the same for Murtagh.
I'd be making 3 maybe 4 changes to that forward line for the Galway game.

Not all doom and gloom, one game in you'd think the world was collapsing judging by some of the posts here. We were comfortably second best but we had a perfectly good goal disallowed which would have gotten us a point away to Tyrone which is no mean feat!

We were missing a lot, any team would struggle if you're missing your best players. Seen a comment that we were the worst Div 1 team Tyrone have seen in Omagh LOL, we are absolutely not that bad and still have a great chance of staying up.

A dire second half but I wouldn't make any rash judgements based on the first league game of the season. Omagh is always a tough place for any team and it was going to be a game Tyrone targetted considering how poor they've been in the years since winning the All Ireland. It will be worrying however if we see a trend in loose defending which we had made huge progress on last year. The only game in the league where I think we conceded more than 15 points last year was against Mayo after a nightmare start by us.
