But the thing is Galway is also left behind with all those issues. If he had made a general comment in how it was unfair on alot of teams then he would have a point but to say its only Donegal is trying to promote a siege mentality.

what makes you think this poster is closer to galway than donegal? in relation to yesterdays game, he can raise it and that's his right but does jim know kerry travelled to offaly? galway travelled to cavan? armagh have travelled to sligo in the past to play ourselves. also sligo pitch is unavailable which he failed to mention. it is one way to deflect to what was a poor enough performance from donegal. cavan.galway (Galway) - Posts: 249 - 16/06/2025 12:12:44 2618187 Link 1 |
Subs: P Conroy (0-0-1) for Tierney (33 mins), D O'Flaherty for Silke (ht), C Sweeney (0-0-1) for McHugh (54), Tierney for Cooke (59), J Heaney for McDaid (68). dillontim16 (Armagh) - Posts: 7 - 16/06/2025 12:19:45 2618192 Link 0 |
It's mostly the same person and he/she is from Mayo, the odd time it splits into a passionate defence of Mayo. As regards the venues, the Hyde was relatively unfair on Donegal, it is venue very very familiar to most Mayo teams and fans given the frequency Mayo and Roscommon meet which does give a small advantage to Mayo. That being said, I dunno how much if any difference it made to the actual game, both teams went at it and the game will do Donegal good. Mayo are miles better than they are being given credit for and would push any of the top rated teams to the very limit. Trucker1 (Galway) - Posts: 450 - 16/06/2025 12:22:46 2618197 Link 0 |
Good to see PJ read my post and dropped Conroy, left Comer at home and made sure Walsh was on the field at the end. tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1450 - 16/06/2025 12:30:45 2618203 Link 0 |

Dingle to O Connor Park = 262 km Clifden to Breffni Park= 241 km Gweedore to Hyde Park=. 217 km Jim should stop moaning! Crashingwaves (Galway) - Posts: 215 - 16/06/2025 12:36:26 2618207 Link 2 |
Donegal still won. I think McGuinness keeping a siege mentality with the squad. Worked well for him in the past, can work again. The Hyde was much better location for us than for Donegal, but we didn't make it count.

I think you are being very disrespectful to Roscommon. They have done excellent work in past few years. Not true to say there are no toilet facilities and no running water. The toilets are down at the end of the stand. My journey from to Roscommon took me 2 hours and 50 minutes yesterday morning and longer getting back to Mayo. I don't complain because I enjoy supporting my county.

The changes made to the half back line during and just after the half time break made a great improvement to the defence which facilitated putting pressure on their kickouts and a more options on ours.It is very disheartening for goalkeepers to see defenders jogging out with their backs to the ball.I realise that turnovers will happen at times but a positive attitude to securing possession helps a lot as the second half showed on Saturday.

Jim 100% correct again, Hyde was a home game all but in name for Mayo. We would treated Castlebar or the Hyde as a home game if we got to play Armagh there. Too much politics of late in Ulster football.

No that is just a nonsensical reply, Carndonagh to Roscommon is 240km and Ballygar to Cavan is 100km. Roscommon wasn't central for Donegal and Cavan wasn't central for Galway.

The regular poster is S1234 and Jim1991, the same person from Mayo. Do you get it now!

You can't compare Donegal and Galway for Government investment, on infrastructure alone, you've 3 motorways M6, M17 and M18, you've a train service and this is due to be upgraded with the Western line, you've a health service with 3 Major hospitals and are getting Surgical hubs. We've to put people on buses to Galway to get Cancer treatments. You also don't have to compete economically with a border and currency issue or a massive mica issue. Finally, there was plenty of Galway posters complaining about the Cavan location including your 1998 winning Captain on social media.

Derry got relegated from div1. Down got relegated from div2, a division that Roscommon promoted from. Down is a much better draw than Donegal or Kerry, which were the alternatives. At least if we lose in Newry, we need be under no illusions or delusions about ourselves.

Just looking back there at the finish of the game G&R, the game was level, a few seconds till the hooter was going to blow, if Mayo had dropped off and let Patton play it short to one of our defenders, the hooter blows and our lad kicks it into touch, game over, we still go through in second place, instead Mayo were still pressing looking for the win and it backfired big style. The Aran Islands, Seán Ó Maoilchiaráin? How many hours/days did it take him? Dún Chaoin in West Kerry to Tullamore is 276 Km. Crashingwaves (Galway) - Posts: 215 - 16/06/2025 14:16:16 2618297 Link 1 |
