Was at the game last night, poor first half from Galway. Kildare looked like they had done a lot more work on the new rules but we can only improve and learn from them by playing more games. Really feel like the new rules will cause a lot of trouble for referees at club level. It took the linesman to call the refs attention to when Galway players crossed the halfway line to only leave 2 up. Replying To galway19: "Club games will be an absolute mess." Let's give the rules a chance and a good run of games before we see how things play out. The first while will absolutely be messy. I wouldn't expect any different. Players are years playing under certain rules, and a few major changes to those are coming in now. There are still a number of Galway clubs without management ahead of the 2025 season, he might have been around the block but still offers great value. Additionally, it's likely he won't be involved with the Galway Academies this year either, which further highlights the loss to Galway football." Depends on which way you look at it... Explain great value? Clubs fork out the guts of 20 k to a manager.. What do they achieve? Have we any potential breakthrough stars this year? Lads that have been around the panel Cillian O'Curroin - certainly has the talent. Last year will do him no harm. This is a position we are short in. James Mcloughlin, feel like I've been talking about him for years even though he is very young yet. Not a position we are short in. Liam O'Conaighle - unsure about him. Rarely seems to threaten. Sam O'Neill. Injury stopped him getting game time in the league last year Tomo - I would have brought him on when finnerty got injured. Felt we lacked balance and a free taker. New lads Matthew Thompson? we certainly need another forward Anyone else Lads on or around the team Sean O'Mul. Yes, throwing out huge amounts of money to these managers and they do nothing to develop the club/underage. If clubs have money for spending then hire a club coach that will basically coach the coaches, but also takes sessions as well. Get a plan/structure in place at the club, if a club can get a good culture underage than that will be seen eventually at senior level. I fear Galway missed the boat last year when letting an average Armagh team beat them in the All Ireland Final… loosing their top scorer early in the game while the other 2 marquee forwards were having a stinker really hurt them on the day… Unfortunately they might not get as good an opportunity again…! He was good against Dublin last year but most other times I've watched him I've felt he wasn't county senior standard. Armagh targeted him in the AI final - they recognised he is absolutely no attacking threat and just let him have the ball. They knew all he was going to do was carry the ball forward and just offload it to someone else. Love to be proven wrong of course but I'm doubtful that will happen. Definitely agree Sean Mulkerrins rarely have I seen him kick the ball seen him for Aran this year in championship and he kicked one ball in 64 mins and thar was kicked back Armagh definitely target him as in let him have ball no threat at all coukd not understand how Daniel o flaherty not brought on wing back when soupy Campbell came on ,, looking at team that played v Kildare o flaherty now a back brough in wing forward v Armagh molloy wing back starts Connacht final wing forward Sean Kelly wing back played no game in backs last year cian Hernon full back v Kildare played wing forward v Westmeath and people wonder why Galway not beat Armagh, simple management clueless ,, hopefully things change it won't take long find out if Sean Kelly , cian Hernon , Daniel o flaherty Kieran molloy and I would add Cathal sweeney are playing in forwards it's curtains again all good players but none anywhere near a forward ,, agsin only my opinion from going to matches Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 964 - 07/01/2025 16:02:46 2584940 Link

It was Joyce also who moved Kelly to 3 started off most his IC career at 12.
