The top scorers in Div 1 with an average of 19 points per game and conceded the least and average of 12. I think most counties would accept that "muck" if it produced those type of results. Disagree. they have conceded less, scored more and won more games. There is absolutely zero correlation between how Galway and Derry are currently performing. I thought you were referring to Derry when saying deplorable brand of play. Galway until they get McDaid, Comer, Walsh etc back probably have to play that way. Make games a dog fight as low scoring as possible and earn points along the way. It's worked against Roscommon, Tyrone with three important points on the board. Lads if Paul Conroy is coming to the end of his service in midfield why not put Paul in goals. I stand corrected but did he not play in goal years ago. There is a lad who would ping out the passes, bring the ball outfield a bit too. I know it couldn't be tried this year but next year in the fbd could Paul be coaxed into goals to try it out. Let's not put too much pressure on o Flaherty. Don't get me wrong he made a huge impact but Tyrone were flagging and he exploited it with his pace . I think he is a definite option whether off the bench or starting but dont expect him to solve all our half back woes. And we do have woes there. Huge win and yes all the praise for O Flaherty & Heaney in particular is deserved but lets not get carried away. O Flaherty is very young and in other games was lucky to be given game time after prior performances in my opinion. I dont want to sound critical of him or anything but lets be honest a good 25 mins does not turn him into the next Lee Keegan. Lets hope he gets a start against Derry and puts in another performance. Our injuries are mounting but as an other poster said this could be the makings of us as it give other lad chances to put the hands up. Molloy's going to take a while to get back to his best which is understandable after the injury he's had and McHugh clearly not operating at the level he was last year. Daly showed signs of getting back to his best especially in that first half with his kicking into Finnerty. O'Flaherty still only 20/21 so very young and certainly don't want to be putting pressure on him but he's a big lad and we've probably got issues around the middle this weekend. Hard to make a case for Galway winning this weekend given the calibre of players missing and Derry look like their in championship gear. Heaney has been the most consistent over past few years. When you compare to Kerry & Dublin forward line, it is far inferior. Gods knows, i'd nearly take a few of the Mayo forwards and that's saying something!" If you remove the 2 best forwards in any county the quality wont be there. It's a peculiarity of this team anyway that it's no6 Daly who happens to be the best kick passer on the team, and plays a lot like a no11 or a midfielder in that aspect, while in Omagh, it was no11 Tierney who was actually hitting like a no6 in the tackle at times. Both no11 Kilpatrick and the Tyrone keeper showed how vulnerable Galway are to direct runs up the middle of the defense, and of course the Mayo no3 put us out of last year's championship on an identical type of sortie. Would Galway benefit if they moved Daly's creativity further up the pitch, and installed more of a hitman to the centre back position, someone who might stall these direct runs up the middle.
