Great win. It'll be interesting to see what Mayo turn up with next week. Some performance from the backs.

Good win. Nice to see 3 Connacht teams in the top 3 spots. Galway vs Mayo should be great.

Very good win. Power, Sean Kelly and Sean Fitz all excellent. One of Cooke's more influential games and Finnerty looked sharp when he came in. Roll on Mayo.

How in the name of god did the referee not give Sean O Shea a black card for taking Cooke out clean through on goal when he was the last defender?

Galway have a confirmed number 1 goalkeeper, his name, Bernie Power, he was excellent.

It would be great to get a crack at "me-ho " above in Croke Park!!"
I predicted a 4 point win - but 2 is fine. Bernie did very well - and brought a welcome relief for collective blood pressure. His save in first half and second were vital. Surely, he must now be retained..

Have to mention Dylan McHugh's super block on Clifford as he pulled the trigger. The key to beating Kerry is a good defensive set-up to cope with the Cliffords. Hernon is alsi an impressive player - tough, athletic and skillful. Unlucky to get a yellow, however, a few more games and he'll be a serious option. We now have great height and power in the middle third.

Well done PJ and the lads, a really good win against a very strong Kerry team. Just back in division 1 and straight into a league final, and the panel getting back towards full strength. Hopefully we can get past Mayo but it will be very tough .

Should be a great game, looking forward to it.

2001 had 4 Connacht teams on top of Division 1A and 1B. Was a great year for ye.

Yes in 2001 Mayo won the League, Roscommon won Connacht and Galway won the All Ireland.

We don't like talking about the 2001 Championship! I remember leaving The Hyde after Connacht Final with Rossies wishing us safe home now. Some finish and a lesson to never stop playing until the final whistle is blown. And that League and Championship are entirely different animals.

Great day out in Pearse today. Salthill is a different place when the sun is shining and a gale isn't blowing! Great performance from the lads. Power superb in goal today. I feel Gleeson had been improving but Power is more assured and you'd feel that confidence was felt by the backs defending against that Kerry forward line. Kelly excellent, Dylan McHugh excellent - his block a match saver, John Daly, Fitz, all worked like mad. The turnovers were superb at times, some of them cheered nearly like scores cos you could see the training ground dogged work paying off. Fair play to defensive coaches and the lads for that. Conroy and Maher did very well. Maher looks physically powerful enough for anyone, seriously strong. Cooke did well. Slows it a bit at times but he's building well. I think he'll be a massive addition in the championship. Tierney tremendous in the air and fast becoming a star man. His one handed fetch was pure class. Shane is just warming up. Damo's point having shrugged off a couple of Kerry defenders was powerhouse stuff. Heaney going well at cf. Off to Croker we go. Let's get up there and support these men, cast away the doubt, smash and grab the silverware. The blood is up!!

Well done Galway today and in truth probably should have won by more.

Well done Galway. Always good to beat Kerry. It'd be even better in championship though. Good to see Comer back. Looking forward now to what should be a highly combative league final. McStay will be going out with all guns blazing. But Galway are good enough to win it. It'll be really tight.

Satisfactory afternoon for Galway indeed a satisfactory league campaign.

Small measure of revenge over Kerry today for that All-Ireland final loss. Like a lot of Galways games throughout the league had to really dig in for the result and got a bit of luck along the way as is needed in a fine margin division and rewarded with a final place.

In it to win it now and no better side to beat in a Croke Park final than Mayo.

I think Galway at full tilt will be a serious force this Summer. Good balance in the team with a few new players showing and of course plenty of hunger to make up for last year's Final defeat. For all the talk of Mayo (Brolly today), I think Galway are the Connacht team to watch this year.

Great win today for Galway (I had them to win by 2pts)
Very clinical and solid with the ball especially in injury time they held possession well, didn't do anything silly and just closed it out.
Definitely M Tierney is my favourite player (good bit of stuff he is)
Really looking forward to the League Final

Heaney fierce unlucky not to score a goal straight away but he ponied up bigtime this league. Himself and Tierney are now leaders.

There is now serious athleticism in this squad. Cooke got one great turnover. He still has a few gears to go through yet. At times, he's prone to giving away possession cheaply, but once that part of his game is ironed out, will be a huge addition.

Some serious options now with Fitzgerald, Hernon, McGrath, O'Flaherty, Sweeney, Maher, Cooke and Culhane all putting their hands up during this league not to mention the likes of Ian Burke, Eoghan Kelly and Neil Mulcahy.

wouldn't be paying much heed to Brolly who's attention seeker and will be the first to kick Mayo if don't win the All Ireland.

Worth taking into account the Mayo starting team today.

R Hennelly;
D McHugh, P O'Hora, S Callinan;
M Plunkett, J Doherty, S Coen;
B Tuohy, M Ruane;
K McLoughlin, F Irwin, J Flynn;
C McStay, A O'Shea, P Towey

10 changes and another 10 changes will likely be made for the league final. Those in bold are probably the only players that will start against your Roscommon team in two weeks. McBrien, J Coyne,J Carney,R O'Donoghue brought on today will all likely start also. So Durcan,Loftus,D O'Connor,F McDonagh,James Carr rested and perhaps some of the players looking for the league final to be played on Saturday?
