Replying To Green&Gold2013:  "I'd argue they should be at least making a county quarter final each year considering its population base and lack of other sports competing against hurling. Two county titles is an underachievement. Maybe I'm wrong but I have never heard a hurler going around saying he played in 10 county quarter finals and expecting a clap on the back. It's all about who has the medals and everything else is a kick in the you know what."
Didn't l Rea beat portumna in 2010
semi final also ?? But I would agree they didn't get it done often enough in spite of the opposition's quality
But seriously can you educate yourself regarding some of your statements here , no other sports competing !!…….I would say every sport from rugby ,soccer ,football , athletics, tennis , basketball ,volleyball, squash, and more take place at a competitive level in Loughrea , and in regard the population , true it is large in number but a significant portion of that is a transient workforce and more still simply move to the town but represent other clubs , Loughrea are an outlier in terms of a town with a successful hurling club , look at Ballinasloe for example, truth is Loughrea are a small enough club with a fraction of the membership of some of the clubs they are competing with
