Have the Cavan and Meath forums got their own volunteer moderators or what?

The website is conveniently based in Kells in Meath 10km from the Meath/ Cavan border ( Please don't eat the head off me Brian).

It's actually a cohort of backseat moderaters like yourself that has ruined the forum. None of yis can actually fathom how detrimental yis are. Dublin posters are as entitled to comment on national fora as much as Cavan/Kerry/Wexford/Galway etc posters. Too bitter to actually see the big picture and that not everything is about you.

Awful change. The best part of hoganstand would be getting the local county news.

Limerick Senior Hurlers 2022 will now be based on the Cavan Forum

Absolutely atrocious decision. If you really, really, really wanted to consolidate everything on one forum, what would have been wrong with moving everything to the national forum rather than removing all the county forums? And are they just hidden from view, or is there any possibility (following everyone's backlash) of restoring them? There were discussions on the Leitrim forum about the county championships at all levels as well as about who the new Leitrim manager would be, and I was keeping a keen eye on the Donegal forum too where there's a palaver over the 2020 football final and appeals and shenanigans. Where is that all now??? All that history, is it down the toilet? And it was often good to see what the point of view in other counties was to various stuff, particularly when your own county was involved. What was wrong with just leaving things as they were? Surely it's not as though the county forums were located in a different office and were too much of an overhead. And no discussion with the posters here about it, an active, passionate community of GAA lovers who have debates, arguments and the craic about the games and counties they love.

You are killing this - I've been here from the start of this site and 95% of the time it is to the Monaghan Forum.. I have no interest in the National one. I want to know and share about Monaghan GAA. Time to do what the Kerry and Dublin fans do and setup a Monaghan site! Shocking decision..

I'd really appreciate if the administrators addressed the topic on this thread given the feedback here today.few questions I'd have myself.

1. Was it budgetary or resource reasons for the change?
2. Could you not have created a thread a week ago or at the weekend called upcoming changes advising of the change.
3. If the change is essential could you not at least have kept the old county threads as an archive but people couldn't post new comments in those threads, you'd be surprised how helpful looking at old comments can be.
4. Could you not have closed down county threads with little activity and kept the more vibrant forums. Used a metric like any county forum with 10 comments or less in the last 6 months can be discontinued. If the Wexford Forum was quiet and discontinued I'd understand but its a very busy forum, Limerick another off the top of my head, I reckon the reason certain county threads are quite is they've busy threads on boards.ie Kilkenny and Waterford 2 examples i can think of.

Presumably being a Meath based company close to Cavan some employees will look after those. I don't really know. People need to calm down here. It's an irreverent and mostly irrelevant forum, it isn't gone away you know. Lots of interesting stuff on national forum, I like.

The majority of discussion will be in one place, through the national forum where any topics can be discussed. There has been a growing trend towards this in recent years and with all messages individually moderated, it allows us to focus our resources more efficiently.
It's a big change, but where would the GAA world be without amalgamations?"
This is one GAA amalgamation that wasn't needed and you have made things worse not better.

Why wasn't this change published prior to this mornings decision?

If, as I suspect, the decision was down to finances, why not put an annual fee on being a member. I would have no problems with an annual fee for access to what other counties do and think

There is not much more which can be said about the shock decision this morning. I noticed it last night when there were only two forums available.

There was always great banter, debates, disputes and arguments across all county forums. It was here that local as well as national issues were debated/disputed. I feel this short of atmosphere will not be possible on National forum without the regular posters.

The theme of this thread is pure dissatisfaction. How about starting a petition (honest and serious) with the hope that the Site Admin will reconsider or perhaps come up with a better alternative given that there were reasons behind this decision.

Remember that the GAA would be nothing without the clubs and players. Similarly the forums which is a selling point in relation to hits for the website will not be the same without the regular posters debating local issues.

Please reconsider or come up with an alternative.

Wouldn't mind it Analyser, don't tar us all with hat brush. Any regular readers of what were the Ros / LM fora would know your posts are measured and insightful.

Have to say though it's a terribly disappointing decision to remove county fora.

Hopefully it gets reversed and the back archive restored post haste.

I'm wondering if the Fermanagh users will be allowed to open discussion threads specific to their county and club football?? Please respond administrator. Thank you."
Perfect response, Long time follower and recently a new poster. The Fermanagh forum was a great way to keep up with the ongoings in the county."
In fact I disagree with the kinawley guy as it's great move to remove the county forum as it will keep a certain slabber you mentioned from annoying everyone with his stupid take on Fermanagh football who wouldn't know whether a ball was pumped or stuffed!"].

Administrator - please reversed this decision immediately. I wanna see this Fermanagh forum.
Perchance Is there any talk of diving boards.

Well this is me gone after nearly 9 years posting what a stupid and lazy idea, even to get rid of the forums to discuss soccer, rugby and other sports, well I hope hoganstand.com cut ties with the lynn group and find another company that will treat the website, message forum and it's user's with the respect that it deserves. If this is the future of the forum, I encourage all fellow posters to stop posting until we get our county message boards back.

This post does not break house rules so put it up.

Do you not think it's weird that this was done without asking the people who actually use any of these forums? Like any other forum I've been on, private company or not, the people who post in the forums inevitably get asked if they want to volunteer their time to moderate the place. I've been a mod in various different forums myself over the years.

The fact it's all been deleted without a word of warning leaves a bad taste in fairness.

I've news for you, there was lots of interesting stuff on various county forums too. "I like" that as well.
