Replying To Administrator:  "From this morning the individual forums in all bar two counties have been retired. The majority of discussion will be in one place, through the national forum where any topics can be discussed. There has been a growing trend towards this in recent years and with all messages individually moderated, it allows us to focus our resources more efficiently.
It's a big change, but where would the GAA world be without amalgamations?"
I cant believe this has happened. We loved talking on seperate forums on club stuff, GAA is nothing without local rivalry and club football.
So so disappointed

Was the Meath page kept due to the fact the website is based in Meath? Sorry lads don't want to be kicking the boot in but i think you've really made a bad decision.

I know things are very tight due to covid and everyone needs to tighten their belts but this is the wrong way to do it. You're taking all the fun & enjoyment out of the website and also taking the discreet nature out of all the individual counties, people in Dublin or Kerry don't want to hear about club football in Louth. I hope the powers to be can reconsider this and maybe find other ways to tighten resources!!

If there is any way you can recover these county forums please do. Not only useful for present day and future discussion but you would be surprised how historically important the posts were. I found myself happening upon posts about my local club team in the noughties that mentioned players and team sheets. This was before facebook or local media went online and was a vital source for club historians like myself to gather material from. Please recover them if possible.

Replying To marmalade_farmer:  "Just set up threads with each county here e.g Leitrim 2022, Dublin 2022 etc and discuss all matters relating to the county within that one thread. It makes sense to consolidate it. And not have fifty million threads on one county forum with maybe five posts in a thread. It will flow better. But then you'll have the eternal battle between hurling and football posters in that thread I suppose, in that case name it Cork Football and have another thread Cork hurling/camogie etc"
Rubbish. There are plenty of separate topics to be talking about within a county not just generically "football" & "hurling". On the Westmeath page there were active threads on each different grade championship that was going on. Putting them all on one thread is ridiculous.

Please restore them and just ban new posts on them. My local one in Limerick provided huge amount of detail about my club side at a time before facebook or local media was online. They are very important sources of knowledge for club people like myself working on club history projects.

Been a pleasure to discuss, argue and have a laugh with all the roscommon club supporters and other. Wish everyone good health and happiness but this is my last post unless the counties come back.

Poor decision. How much time are you saving doing this? What counties' forums were retained?

This is a ridiculous decision. Makes no sense.

Totally agree with this, this is so badly taught out, the reaction reminds me of the European Super League last April.

Well if you don't use it there's always the danger that you'll lose it as is the same with local pubs and post offices, people that complain the most afterwards are usually those that never used it, that been said I think hoganstand should of kept a few more county forums and I can understand posters frustration, if the meath one went I be passed of too.

What other topics other than hurling and football are to be discussed on a gaa forum? Okay have a Westmeath rounders and handball thread also if it's needed

What two counties have not been deleted? Donegal in my opinion was an active forum.

I can only repeat what has been said by everyone else. This is a terrible idea and effectively kills most of the local debate. The Galway forum was quite active. The 2 that have been maintained look to have far less activity.
Suggesting that local topics all get created in the national forum makes no sense. Debate will be lost as all the various threads disappear down the pages. Not to mention the fact that existing local threads have been removed.
I'll have little interest in staying on here as a result unfortunately, unless this changes.

Cavan and Meath were retained, conveniently based on the border of the 2 counties.
