Show you where ballymadun is or show you how to use google? If it's the latter it's not too hard to work out. I'm definitely no genius and I manage it. To save you time I'll leave this here: https://www.hoganstand.com/County/National/Forum/Details/108198?PageNumber=1#msg_2236942 You'll probably figure it out from there for yourself. Cue the accusations of stalking or being from Kildare…… Greenfield (Meath) - Posts: 524 - 11/09/2021 21:04:33 2379769 Link 8 |

I remember the early 2000s..almost each year in club final any new team in it "was the smallest club in Ireland"....it was almost a competition in itself...how anyone knows for sure is always something I couldnt figure out.. I thought it might be Tourin but selected Ballysaggart . Modeligo and Fenor must be fairly small also.

Cloonacool in Sligo share a parish with Tubbercurry would be Sligo's smallest but probably decent footballers choose to play with Tubber as amalgamated underage so boundaries are not respected at adult too strictly Sligoman1234 (Sligo) - Posts: 493 - 01/10/2021 14:40:41 2383991 Link 0 |

... and if you are a half-parish, you get to keep the match ball and get a free set of steak knives for winning the ultimate small club bingo. We call it the 'Mullinalaghta effect'.

Does that mean that can't qualify for Munster?

Allow me to kill the argument by replacing it. The north and the south of County Leitrim are inaccessible to/from one another by road without leaving the county. Please, all, feel free to put me in my box by Googling it.

What about Aughawillan? And I'm not sure about Cloone, although they have no second team...

I know Tourin and Ballysaggert were already mentioned in Waterford but i would say Melleray /Glen rovers would be the smallest although i'm open to correction on that. PullHard7 (Waterford) - Posts: 53 - 04/10/2021 20:51:16 2384428 Link 0 |
Deciding smallest club can be difficult. The number of townlands alone will not decide as townlands may be large area or large population. Maybe say a club who only have players taken from a very small school and that would normally be a rural area. Some clubs come and go, so a very small club which does not field a team may not count-maybe the question should specify ladies football, hurling, men's football, camogie and grade off. Maybe naming a very small club in a county that have won many senior championships could be more easily determined. Some of the clubs already mentioned are indeed very small with some not fielding teams (I hope only temporary)- it is a fact that some of the clubs mentioned are close to counties with the lowest number of clubs. Difficult naming small clubs close to, or in towns, as players come from outside a specified area. Judging by all the politician talk today (billions here billions there) makes me believe that rural Ireland does not exist with roads or houses not required, or is that a new way to go green!. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 04/10/2021 21:20:25 2384436 Link 0 |
Clare Island GAA club is probably the smallest GAA club. Population 150. They play in the Islands all Ireland. Some of their players actually play in the Mayo championship with Louisberg on the mainland as they are unable to field a team. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11540 - 05/10/2021 07:05:14 2384444 Link 0 |
Ballycomoyle pulls from a surprisingly big enough area, loughnavalley by far the smallest

Would have thought CFCW would have pulled most of that area around Pollard, Ringtown and Collinstown. Ballycomoyle is very small and close to border with Longford and Meath. Loughnavalley would probably shade it. Stuck between Ballymore, Shandonagh, Milltown and Malachys. A lot of clubs competing for players in a small area.
