Failed with 50.6% voting in favour. We need change but this is what happens when you put forward 2 bad proposals. Rolo2010 (Donegal) - Posts: 746 - 23/10/2021 12:58:18 2386928 Link 0 |
Failed, good day for the GAA let's get a better proposal in its place. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4416 - 23/10/2021 13:13:22 2386930 Link 7 |

Colm Parkinson and other supporters now calling for a player strike. Remember that most players didn't respond to the GPA and a strike would make them deeply unpopular within their counties and clubs. Rolo2010 (Donegal) - Posts: 746 - 23/10/2021 13:33:42 2386941 Link 0 |
That's great news as this proposal was lacking, let the gaa go away now and tweak it to something better, KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 23/10/2021 13:42:05 2386944 Link 2 |
The cash cow that is Dublin will be milked even more by the GAA next year with full stadiums back again.

Depressing decision. No fans at many provincial championship matches any more. The division 1 teams like Galway and Mayo voting to preserve the status quo smacks of the Super League. Let's make sure to keep out the small counties. God forbid Longford made a quarter final. Shame on the GAA Rebel2020 (Cork) - Posts: 92 - 23/10/2021 13:45:31 2386946 Link 5 |
It was good imho that the Proposal B was rejected. The elephant in the room was Covid 19. We had a fairly low key championship this year, small crowds, and half full stadia. It will be good to have the crowds back at say Munster hurling final, or Clones. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2585 - 23/10/2021 13:55:57 2386948 Link 0 |
A very dark day for gaelic football but with no football championship worth looking at next summer it has been some day for the cuttothebone (Kildare) - Posts: 166 - 23/10/2021 13:59:15 2386949 Link 4 |
God forbid Longford might have to get up to Division 1 or 2 to make a QF. Wouldn't want to make things difficult for them.

For years we've been hearing that the Provincial Championships/Councils is the elephant in the room. What a great chance to kick the big guy out! Today was a day to liberate the GAA football world by creating a pathway to a significantly better future for both players and supporters. Exactly, let them go away and come back with something better.

Overseas vote today was 19% Players was less than 5% Some Counties had more votes than other Counties! Democracy? Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1467 - 23/10/2021 14:10:39 2386955 Link 2 |
There is usually very little difference between 4th - 6th in Division 1 but regardless of where teams finish in Div 1 it has for some counties taken a lot of hard work, dedication and effort to reach that level. Proposal B wasn't all bad but the major issue I suspect many had and the reason it was rejected is likely due to handing a team finishing 25th in league standings a place in the knock out stages over a team who finished 6th. Yes find a creative solution to provide a pathway to lower league teams but this proposal was not that solution and it's a good congress have agreed it isn't the right way forward. sam1884 (UK) - Posts: 999 - 23/10/2021 14:10:44 2386956 Link 0 |
Let's be honest. If Galway or Mayo come out the right side of the draw in Connacht by avoiding Roscommon (50/50 chance) they are have two shots to win 1 game to be in a Quarter Final. They voted to preserve that inequality .
