That's great news as this proposal was lacking, let the gaa go away now and tweak it to something better, Personally I'm not against change but changing from 1 unfair system to another unfair system just isn't right. Depressing decision. No fans at many provincial championship matches any more. The division 1 teams like Galway and Mayo voting to preserve the status quo smacks of the Super League. It was good imho that the Proposal B was rejected. The elephant in the room was Covid 19. We had a fairly low key championship this year, small crowds, and half full stadia. It will be good to have the crowds back at say Munster hurling final, or Clones. The media and Govt were not nice to the GAA last year. And this vote is a step in the right direction to reform down the line. Another issue is the GAA have not got media partners anymore. For years we've been hearing that the Provincial Championships/Councils is the elephant in the room. What a great chance to kick the big guy out! Today was a day to liberate the GAA football world by creating a pathway to a significantly better future for both players and supporters. You can talk all you want about tweaking future proposals but its clear that it will be extremely difficult to break from the Provinces. The team who finish top of division 4 make the knockout phase but will get beat in their first knockout game, probably badly, what benefit is that to them?" There is usually very little difference between 4th - 6th in Division 1 but regardless of where teams finish in Div 1 it has for some counties taken a lot of hard work, dedication and effort to reach that level. Proposal B wasn't all bad but the major issue I suspect many had and the reason it was rejected is likely due to handing a team finishing 25th in league standings a place in the knock out stages over a team who finished 6th. If Galway or Mayo come out the right side of the draw in Connacht by avoiding Roscommon (50/50 chance) they are have two shots to win 1 game to be in a Quarter Final.
