Should Unvaccinated Fans Be Allowed Into Croke Park?

Given that a few threads feature quite a lot of debate about Covid I reckon it's time to address this. Impossible to police I know, but it is an interesting question.

Not that hard to police. everyone vaccinated has proof they are vacc'd.
everyone has to have ticket purchased online with photo id matching the names on the tickets bought.
possibly they shouldnt be allowed. but doubt GAA will go down that route

Makes no difference to Croke Park or the GAA , a vaccinated person can still pass on Covid. Vaccines are to protect the person receiving it plus it takes the pressure of health service. It's up to people to look after themselves.

It's incredibly easy to police.

No. Actions have consequences, and those choosing to go unvaccinated for non-medical reasons will have to accept that their liberties will be curtailed to some extent until we can get a handle on this thing.

I attended an event earlier this summer that had 125,000 odd fans at it, it's very easy to police if you get your ducks in a row beforehand. Everyone had to demonstrate that they were either vaccinated or Covid-negative, and if they weren't, they either took a test there and then or didn't get in (this was at a point when the vaccine rollout was significantly less advanced than it is now).

If they could be assured that everyone attending was vaccinated would it let them increase the number of supporters allowed in? I got a pod of 2 for the Connacht Final. Was vaccinated at the time but no COVID question asked at all, just to stay in the pod while watching the game. My mate isn't vaccinated and hasn't planned to be but observed the COVID protocols.

This whole Covid sitution is getting rather silly and ridiculous at this stage. Would people rather look at empty stadiums for the rest of time? If people want to wear masks, fine, and if they don't want to wear them, fine also. This has been going on for nearly two years now and its time people moved on and got back to normal, otherwise what is the point of the vaccine? We have nearly 90% of our entire population fully vaccinated, what's going on in this country? Its embarrassing that their are still restrictions on the amount of people can attend sporting events (still only 200 'allowed' into a club game) when as many people as you like can ram into a pub or beer garden watch a match on TV. A lot of this is GAA bashing that non GAA people love to do. If anything their should be even more people allowed into Croke Park for the All Ireland football final! The GAA cant hold peoples hand and glue a mask to their face, or bar them from socializing before or after the game. People have been put through hell for the last eighteen months, its time to move on.

Well considering the vaccines were only developed in response to covid and there is multiple strains of the disease always emerging then the vaccines wont be effective against all of those strains we cant just go oh most people are now vaccinated lets get back to normal and forget covid ever existed.
its not embarrassing at all there is restrictions still allowed
it isnt GAA bashing but GAA havent helped themselves like look at crowds at some games in croke park and you see loads of people not wearing masks etc and these are trial events where theyre meant to.

Well it is outdoor and if facemasks worn, the risks are hugely reduced, so a persons covid status is not as big a problem, except if you have it of course. But looking at the hurling final I would say there was very little adherence to wearing facemasks. I would say apathy and fatigue has set in, after all we were told there would be a vaccine benefit but unfortunately that is now being shown to be not what we hoped. We have to live with this, but how we behave is still important.

So technically 40,000 unvaccinated people could legally attend the All-Ireland final while another 40,000 vaccinated people are prevented from even being given the opportunity to buy a ticket.

Only in Ireland.

Is it an wonder people are becoming fatigued by all this.

Think it's time we learned to live with this..majority who have vaccine got have to produce proof if we want to go to restaurant or pub..what would be wrong with showing a cert at the gate?if you don't produce it unfortunately you don't gain entry..also s lot giving out about crowds around outside croke park, what were people expecting?go to any outdoor park in the country and there will be hundreds in these areas..go to shopping centers, large grocery stores there all full..do people know is there a limit for club games for rest of year?

There's a big difference between a handful of people queuing up outside a pub or a restaurant and 82,000 waiting to get into Croke Park.

Do you realize how many extra man hours it would take to adequately check the authenticity of a cert.

As long as it takes to scan the QR code on a ticket if every COVID cert scanner was in working order.

That's not an adequate check, that doesn't prove the person presenting the QR code is the same person who is vaccinated and that's why I said it would take too many man hours to "adequately" check.

You have to show photo id and the qr code which proves the name printed on the ticket is same as person entering the ground and no it wouldnt take many hours to adequately check.
if necessary you stagger entry and get more people to enter the grounds earlier.

That's not true at all KillingFields, names aren't printed on All-Ireland tickets and they should never be.
