Give the man a break African. He was only trying to prove a point and he apologised. I also go into other county forums. It can be interesting. Where are you from AG.?You say you put manners on Philly Mac. Was that in a club game? Did you play club football invDublin or Leinster? Now you say you never saw the sky over Kerry but you do seem to have time for Kerry. You also seem to have time for Mayo Down and Derry but you seem to have a serious dislike for Dublin and Donegal? Some of your posts can be very interesting but many can be disrespectful putting it lightly.

It's a pity he didn't think to apologize to myself and the Hermit seen that his post was about us. Then the matter would have been at an end. AfricanGael (UK) - Posts: 1947 - 21/08/2021 19:41:14 2373674 Link 0 |
Any answers to my questions?

That was a long time ago now though. It's a fair few years since Tyrone beat Kerry in a championship match. There is no real rivalry, just the memory of a rivalry. I accept that Kerry may not put 6 goals past us this time, but this Kerry team are on form, and they are a few points better than Tyrone, even without the covid. With the Covid disruption and absentees etc, all Kerry has to worry about is complacency.

I hope you're right essmac, after watching yer minors take apart Cork today and it brought back some bad memories, We are the in form team but Tyrone have played the harder games to ger to the semifinal but next Sat will tell us I suppose, I still feel we have problems up the centre of our defence, will we be able to score enough to cover that deficiency time will tell, will Tyrone be fully recovered and match sharp only god knows. I would love to see Tyrone win this match but I believe they have to get quicker bell into the front 6 to achieve it. I think they can be too ponderous on the ball, lose possession at times and be turned over too easy. I don't like their over emphasis on forward, backwards hand passing in defence and around the middle of the park, it achieves nothing. Tyrone have to score more than a Kerry side that contains so many attacking options. Tyrone don't have the same depth they did 15 years ago that could grind Kerry down. For this reason I think Kerry will win by 6pts+. As for sticking the boot into Tyrone no I just give an honest opinion.

You are so correct CiarraiMick (Dublin) every poster here no matter where the poster is from has a connection however small with a county on this Island of ours and for the life of me I simply can't understand why they don't acknowledge that in their Log in details, for example if I live in the USA and I was born in Kilkenny then in my log in should read supersub15 / USA - Kilkenny, as it is anyone can sign up and claim the USA, UK, or Australia and others but that may or may not be the case. There are apparent genuine posters here who get snubbed because their log in details of origin doesn't reach those of some poster connected to say, USA, UK, Australia, etc. I hate to say it but there is a touch of snobbery attached, however, at the end of the day, the show goes on, and on. Etc. supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 3090 - 22/08/2021 23:14:07 2374017 Link 3 |

Now that I have no vested interest in the championship, as a gaelic football fan I am really looking forward to the other semi and of course, the final. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8683 - 23/08/2021 23:04:22 2374270 Link 4 |
This game for me all about whether tyrone can handle the Kerry attack. Impressed by tyrone defence against us and donegal but this is a big step up for them as kerry have so many options. However if tyrone can stifle them a bit knock them out of their stride and get likes of mckenna donnelly mcshane if fit and mccurry motoring at a suspect kerry rearguard then they have a chance. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1853 - 24/08/2021 08:37:50 2374291 Link 0 |
This game is poised for the mother of all ambushes from Tyrone. HuddHastings (Longford) - Posts: 144 - 24/08/2021 08:51:01 2374292 Link 1 |
I suppose I'm basing my pessimism on how both counties would match up if both had a full pick and at full fitness etc. Even in that parallel universe, Kerry probably will finish a few points in front. Tyrone would always have a chance in that scenario, but we'd need a lot of things to go right at the same time as we'd need a lot of things to go wrong for ye. Then, add covid to the mix, and I just don't see it. I had covid, and I know how it can weaken you long after you've "recovered". As you might expect, the covid hasn't done the decent thing and only went for the fringe players, it's taken out a couple of key men, who simply will not be firing on all cylinders, and it's inconceivable how being below par in some key areas on the pitch is ever going to work against this Kerry team in particular. The upside is I'm not worried about the game - you only worry if you have hope! I'm much more worried about the minors v Meath, who reportedly are very good; they apparently disposed of Dublin handy enough, so that'll be a battle and a half.

I was just reading an article where Fergal Logan said everyone was back training for Tyrone with the last few days essmac, now he did really say what shape yer players were in but he's a full squad to choose from. As hudhastings says above this could be the mother and father of all ambushes on Saturday, we don't really know where Kerry stand from a sharpness point of view after 5 weeks of a lay off and it could well take 15-20 mins for the lads to get to the pace of the game and if Tyrone get a good start and with yer defence I wouldn't like to be chasing the game going into the second half. I'd say yer minors will be well prepared, they looked excellent the other day but minors can be a hard to judge. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 24/08/2021 10:18:03 2374311 Link 1 |
That must be where they play 80 minute matches too. I'm still on the lookout for an 80 minute match ever since AG told me I was a bit slow for not realising this was the length of senior county matches. Marking Philly out of it for 80 minutes is impressive. Philly must've been too embarrassed to put it in his book.

Apart from typical Irish nosiness , have you any legitimate reason for asking me intrusive questions Mick ? And if so, can you clearly spell out what the legitimate reason is. According to all of your online friends from the Northside I'm the Hermit, and up in the top 3 of most popular posters of all time on HS. Are you now saying you don't trust your online friends judgment ? Anyway, spell out your legitimate reason. AfricanGael (UK) - Posts: 1947 - 24/08/2021 12:12:27 2374342 Link 2 |
I would like to know what county you ré from so I can put your views into better context. I know some posters probably pretend to be from other counties but that to me is silly. I have no doubt you are Not the hermit but why the secrecy? Have you not accused some posters of having other accounts? You have made a few bold statements too and did nt elaborate when questioned.

That's not a legitimate reason Mick, because I don't pretend to be from any county, so it's not applicable to me at all. I think you are wrong to use someone's county to put context on their views because you try and turn legitimate views into something personal which completely takes away from the posters point to begin with. If someone from Cork has an strongly held opinion about something relating to Kerry for example then it's easy to reply and say "sure you're from Cork" of course you'll say that. The same could be said for many counties. So that does nothing for any debate. I couldn't care less how many accounts people have or I couldn't care less what people think of my opinions or factual content either. There are too many posters here who are too afraid to critically analyze anything, they are more interested in collecting thumbs up, house angels they are known as. Clearly the Hermit is hated by the Dubs because they are totally consumed by him, he's a poster with 10,960 likes, obviously many people agree with his views. It's an anonymous forum like many others Mick so secrecy is part and parcel of forums like this, that's why they are called anonymous. But if you want to tell everyone who you are and what you had for your breakfast then use Facebook or some other platform like that. Not for me Mick.
