Fair enough if you just want to hit a quick foot pass, but if you're going for a point, put it down and hit it off the ground. It's a great skill and great drama to watch, and really sorts out the heroes from the bottlers. And everyone taking a scoring free out of the hands always straightens the angle too - nobody kicking for a score out of their hands ever hits it from the location of the foul.

And as for soloing - I tell my kids in our back yard "no more than 4 steps without a solo or a bounce", but I feel like I'm lying to them. Sure we all know you nowadays could run most of a half with the ball under your arm, and, provided you didn't flip the bird to the ref while doing so, you'd probably get away with it. Soloing well is a great skill. Please enforce it.

And please ban time-wasting substitutions in the last 5 minutes, unless in case of an obvious injury. And if a man is down injured and isn't up inside a minute, stretcher him off right away. Too many of them are just messers who are slowing the game down and protecting a lead by exaggerating an injury - or m by just outright faking.

Ban all scores with the hand or fist.

When in the opposition's half, ban all passes back into your own half. That'll force them to play people up front.

Any team that does more than 2 hand or fist passes in a row concedes a free.

Openly and honestly ban all tackling so that there is no more confusion about it. At the moment, a sort of tackle is in the rules, but nobody knows for sure what it means in practice. In practice, unless you're smaller than your opponent, you're not allowed to tackle. And if you nail somebody with a fair shoulder, that'll be a yellow.

All points from outside 30 metres are worth 2 points.

No harm in dreaming. Pigs flying overhead."
There is an awful lot of banning in that post there.

Far be it from me to question inter County players but for the life of me I'll never understand why fellas take frees from their hands.
In my experience taking them from the ground always provided better accuracy and a more reliable trajectory.
