CJ McGourty from Antrim was a fella who always looked promising but just didn't seem to want to commit. He's now playing hurling with Tyrone. oneoff (UK) - Posts: 1560 - 17/05/2021 08:19:43 2342638 Link 0 |

He was always coming and going with the footballers. Not sure if he actually played senior hurling with Antrim. He was always very good with St Galls in the mid to late 2000s. Won an All Ireland with them in 2010 and he won an Intermediate hurling All Ireland with them as well. oneoff (UK) - Posts: 1560 - 17/05/2021 10:10:26 2342676 Link 0 |

He was managing the footballers in the last few years. AFAIK he was part of a joint team but then went ob his own. I have very little retaliation of him as a player

not really impressed by that populist theory (normally half joking but cutting all the same) thown up againlt people who did more for their country than we ever did. We wil park it at that as they say.

I have no time for Gerry Adams or his party. However Gearoid Adams has never got involved in politics and he played football for his county at Senior Level for thirteen years, so he had ,shall we say, no need to ever deny being a county footballer, and was certainly no one day wonder. He was also involved with the management of both Antrim and Down teams.

No need to comment on anyone on here regarding their politics, or should I say their fathers politics...that why I replied to other poster..let's stick to the topic and players and not use form to get our own political opinions on anyone whatever they might be..Gearoid was a nice footballer indeed...

If I had a penny for everytime I've heard someone dismiss an (often valid) alternative viewpoint as "populist" these last 5 years, id have enough money to buy a home without fear of being priced out of it by vulture funds and their non populist mates in government.

Absolutely agreed. Someone else drew up Gerry, when he should not have been even mentioned.

Austin O Malley played for Mayo for 6 years, won 3 Connacht titles played 50 or 60 times for Mayo then had 2 or 3 years with Wicklow.

Seeing Austin O Malleys name remains of another. Alan Costello with Mayo/Sligo. Don't remember much of him with Mayo but looked unstoppable with Sligo in 2010 in the games against Mayo and Galway. Don't really remember much from him after that. oneoff (UK) - Posts: 1560 - 25/05/2021 19:42:55 2345474 Link 0 |
In football back sometime in the 90s,I remember a tall blonde haired full forward for Mayo called Kenneth Reilly I think. Seemed decent in a league game, free scoring, TippRed (Tipperary) - Posts: 42 - 25/05/2021 20:31:10 2345492 Link 0 |
Feral Ryan was around for a few years it's just Cork weren't up to much for most of the time. He was the Munster winning captain in 2000.

As far as I can remember Fergal Ryan was in his late 20's at that stage in 99. He was a hardy bit of stuff.

Fergal Ryan was Mr consistent in 1999...had an great year..yeah...just dropped away...I seen a Shane Moloney mentioned above for Galway...unless there are two..I thought he was only minor a few years ago and U21 since but didnt make expected senior step up.. maybe there were 2 or time has gone around alot quicker than I thought...ime in shock if it is..

I can't say if there was a second Shane Moloney but the guy in 15 was very young, just out of minor I think and got a lot of airtime after his match winning point. I think Conor Whelan burst on the scene at this time too. Hard to believe that's 6 years ago. Shane Moloney must be around 24/5 now. I still picture him as a young player scoring a memorable point in a pressure cooker situation.
