Bernard Brogan Has Retired From IC Football

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Best Dubs forward of them all?
Certainly of the modern era
Ironically, his best days probably came just before we went nuclear on it!
Cork semi final 2010 he was on his own that day

Farewell Bernard

Legend

Always find it amusing that how Dublin related topics end up on the national thread rather than their own page, that aside congratulations to brenard on a stellar career, to come back from 2 ACL injuries shows incredible character and resilience.

Happy retirement young man, legend is a term often misused, with him its not. It really is of national interest when someone of Bernards stature in the game retires, ala The Gooch.

Good luck to Bernard in his future endeavors off the pitch, a fine footballer in fairness.

It's on the main page because it was posted on the main thread?

But why is it posted on the main thread rather than the Dublin page? Same as the topic 'kennelly salutes egoless dubs' , just seems to be a few self absorbed Dublin posters who have a habit of this.

As I said I think coming back from 2 ACL's is as admirable as the medals and personal accolades so huge admiration to bernard for that.

A great servant of Dublin football- possibly the greatest Dublin forward of them all. It's a little sad how his IC career ended though. It would have been nice for him to have played a more central role in our recent success. Contrast this with Alan's key role in 2015. He played a huge role in securing that victory in the rain and retired on a Hugh in December. I just think it's a little tough on Bernard.

One of the best footballers I have ever witnessed. Serious natural talent, great attitude towards the game but also in general. Not many players would come back from the injuries he faced, his enthusiasm and drive are second to none. Not a bad looking lad, and to round it all off he is a complete gent. It would make you sick really!!! All the best in retirement Bernard, a true legend of the game.

Come off it. The man had an amazing career spanning over 15 years. Arguably Dublin's greatest ever forward and arguably one of the best forwards the games has seen. It deserves to be on the main national forum. Just like when Sean Cavanagh, Tomas O'Shea, The Gooch etc retired...all greats of the games and deserve their own thread on the national forum.

Anyway, thanks for the memories Bernard. Enjoy your retirement. I will never forget your performances in 2010, when funnily enough we failed to even make a final yet you still deservedly won POTY.

One of the greats!!!!!

I don't see the issue when such a big name of the game like Cooper, Cavanagh or Brogan retire being put on the main page as I'm sure it would generate a lot of interest on the main page. I don't see the issue there but each to their own I suppose.
