Dublin V Mayo - Call It

Replying To Jack_Goff:  "Why does it have to be all about the money? What good has that done the GAA? The massive rise in GAA revenue since the turn of the century has ultimately only benefit one team.

Hopefully someday the counties voted in fairness. Dublin should be playing a semi final at home. There may have been 82k there today but that result will damage future attendances at mayo vs Dublin matches which is probably the biggest fixture in the GAA."
Absolute tripe!

Why will it affect attendances at Mayo v Dublin games in the future ?

Meath fans may have abandoned ship when things weren't going well in the county, but Mayo fans are off the scale in terms of fanaticism. They've lost countless all Ireland finals, and yet year on year they will keep coming back with a ridiculously high amount of numbers. Do you *really* think a 10 point defeat means Mayo people will feck off like you lot ?

I don't think so. Mayo may not be good enough or may not have had the bit of luck that they probably deserve, and they would have every right to sulk and whinge about it, but y'know what, the fact they never just accept their lot, they never just fall away and die and continue to get back on the horse back year, on year, on year is (apart from Dublin's brilliance) the most admirable thing in the GAA right now and over the last few years. Their fans and players are a credit to themselves and their whole attitude embodies everything great about sport.

So, you may have abandoned your county by not going to games because you fear a hiding or "sure whats the point" (and you wont be the only one) but youre living in another world to the rest of us if you think Mayo fans will walk away from their team. Proper team. Proper fans.

The dubs should be enjoying such a big win in an All Ireland semi but seem to be getting very wound up.

I can understand the frustration. The guilt from all the blatant favouritism from the gaa towards Dublin is been taken out on me and I have no problem with that. Let it all out. You will feel much better."
Surely you should be more worried about your big semi final with Tyrone than your obsession with the Dubs. Safe traveling today. That's assuming that you're bothering to come up to the capital to support your team.

Declan Bonner made the point before the game in Castlebar that the one week gap between the last game of the super 8's and the semi final was too short, should be at least a fortnight he maintained, of course he was slammed for it, Donegal were accused of thinking they had already got to the semi final when all Declan was saying was the scheduling of games was wrong,
Horan said it was no problem for Mayo, they'd rather be playing games than training etc or words to that effect, now they get well beaten by Dublin and he's out crying about having no rest between games?
