How do you say something like that? Dublin hammered Kildare in the semifinals.

Dreadful stuff. Meath petrified at a hammering and only interested in keeping the score down. When their first score in the 32nd minute is greeted with such praise you know Gaelic football is in dire straits. Shame on the GAA for reducing us to this. Other counties should look at the Ulster championship and try to implement attacking football. Ned_Stormcrow (Cavan) - Posts: 1071 - 23/06/2019 16:40:56 2199040 Link 3 |
Meath would have taken your hand off for Dublin only scoring 5 points, shame their shooting is woeful. m_the_d (None) - Posts: 1099 - 23/06/2019 16:41:01 2199041 Link 0 |
Meath being saved from a complete humiliation by the conditions JJ1 (Kildare) - Posts: 547 - 23/06/2019 16:41:02 2199042 Link 2 |
Good Lord, what has become of football? Turgid stuff, with the kind of scoreline you'd expect to see in a game of rugby played in a mud bath, on a bad day, between two secondary schools (oh, and assuming you could only score one point in rugby). festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3097 - 23/06/2019 16:41:15 2199043 Link 2 |
A total bore, full of the usual spite and niggle between these two teams, in other words, puke football. baire (Galway) - Posts: 1767 - 23/06/2019 16:45:29 2199045 Link 1 |
I think I fancy Meath to get another point in the second half.

Meath are well organised at the back. They've been very poor on the ball. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4172 - 23/06/2019 16:46:33 2199047 Link 6 |
Paul Mannion. Cringy stuff. And then coming to the realisation no red card was coming so he changes to a leg injury. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 7831 - 23/06/2019 16:47:17 2199048 Link 7 |
The Association should take a long hard look, this is the future of Gaelic football and the game will die if drastic action isn't taken. The crowds are staying away and people are bored stiff now. Turgid, turgid rubbish but you can't blame Meath who just want to keep the score down. The GAA have created a monster in Dublin that they can't, or more likely don't want to control. The game is dying a death. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9688 - 23/06/2019 16:49:35 2199051 Link 6 |
fair play to Meath for kicking it over the bar in the first half maroondiesel (Mayo) - Posts: 1193 - 23/06/2019 16:53:48 2199058 Link 4 |

I know the commentators have to stay positive, but to describe this game as "not one for the purists" might be the understatement of the year. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3097 - 23/06/2019 17:09:10 2199071 Link 1 |
I don't think Meath are just trying to keep the score down. They aren't playing with extra defensive cover. They are just playing very well defensively and very badly going forward. Dublin are actually getting numbers back and Meath don't have a way of breaking through Dublin's defence. It's not a good game but all this outrage is weird. Sometimes a game isn't very good. Meath's handling and basic skills have not been strong enough for the conditions either. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4172 - 23/06/2019 17:10:31 2199074 Link 7 |
I normally agree with your posts, but Meath aren't playing to keep the score down, don't know what you're watching if you think that. Meath have gone man for man with Dublin for most of this match, unlike most other team's. They just can't hit a barn door themselves, wilting under pressure as usual.

This is like a junior c club game that takes place at 11am on a Sunday morning. If you put on Colm O'Rourke he'd still do a better job than these Meath forwards. Cluxton not tested once under a high ball. Thelonesomegoose (Leitrim) - Posts: 204 - 23/06/2019 17:24:38 2199093 Link 1 |
