Camogie All Star nominations

November 16, 2004
The nominees for the first ever Camogie All Stars were announced ahead of the Gala Banquet in the CityWest Hotel, next month. Brian Cowen, T.D., Minister for Finance will join his fellow county woman, Miriam O'Callaghan, president of Cumann Camógaíochta na nGael to present the awards. The young player of the year and the international player of the year will also be announced at the banquet. No less than 15 counties are represented in the 45 nominations and it will come as no major surprise that the 2004 Foras na Gaeilge All-Ireland champions and National League champions Tipperary top the bill with eleven nominations. This years beaten finalists Cork, together with beaten All-Ireland semi-finalists and Intermediate champions Galway, each have seven nominations, while Wexford who showed great improvement this year received a total of four nominations. Other counties that feature are Waterford, Kildare, Division 2 League winners, with two nominations, and beaten league finalists Laois receiving one nomination. Three Ulster counties, Derry, Antrim and Down, are also in line for an All Star award. Dublin, who reached the National League semi-final have two nominations.
