Slaughtneil are Ulster club senior hurling champions for the fourth time in six years after beating Ballycran, 1-14 to 0-10, in today's final at Corrigan Park.

Scorer of 1-1, Brendan Rogers continued his impressive goalscoring touch when raising the game's only green flag in the 51st minute to put a rubber stamp on another memorable victory for the Robert Emmets in Belfast. Team-captain Cormac Doherty was imperious from placed balls, notching seven (six frees).

Ballycran's long lay-off since the county final which was played back on October 11 didn't seem to affect them during the first-half as they trailed 0-9 to 0-6 at the break. However, they could only muster two points from play through Michael Hughes and Ben Arthurs and would go on to rue plenty of missed chances.

Inspired by Shane McGuigan and Chrissy McKaigue - the winners gradually gained a foothold in the contest to lead by 0-13 to 0-7 midway through the second-half before Rogers drove the sliotar to the roof of the net, giving goalkeeper Stephen Keith no chance. Though 'Cran battled back to notch the last three points, their woes were compounded when defender Gerard Hughes was sent off for a second yellow card.
