Galway set September 18 deadline for football manager nominations

Galway GAA has begun the process of appointing a new senior football manager by inviting nominations and expressions of interest for the position.

In a statement, the county board said that nominations may be submitted through clubs, with the consent of the proposed candidate. Expressions of interest may also be submitted directly and in confidence to [email protected]. The closing date for receipt of nominations and expressions of interest is next Friday, 18 September.

Since Padraic Joyce ended his seven-year tenure, a number of names have been linked to the high-profile role, including seven-time Dublin All-Ireland SFC winning manager Jim Gavin, Galway U20 boss Kevin Johnson, former Mayo manager Stephen Rochford, former Corofin supremo Kevin O’Brien, ex-Galway player and selector John Divilly, and former midfielder and manager Kevin Walsh, who has been involved as a coach with Cork in recent years.
