Clonduff GAA Club Notes
April 01, 2010
Sincerest condolences to Marie Walls, our Club Treasurer and her family on the tragic and untimely death of her brother Martin who was killed in a road traffic accident on Saturday night and to Jimmy Devlin, our Under 12 Football manager, on the tragic death of his father, Peter (Kilcoo) also in a road accident earlier on Saturday afternoon. Go ndéana Dia Trocaire ar anam!
Congratulations to:
St Colman's College, Newry and St Malachy's High School, Castlewellan on winning their All Ireland Semi Finals on Saturday
Down Senior Footballers who gained promotion to Division One Football with their resounding win away to Westmeath on Sunday afternoon
Best Wishes to: All Clonduff teams for the incoming season - most leagues begin immediately after Easter, best wishes too, to all of the Clonduff men who are training other club teams in counties Down, Armagh and Louth, may you all have successful seasons.
Commiserations to our Set Dancers, who had no joy in the Ulster Final in Threemilehouse on Saturday night. They gave a great exhibition and didn't put a foot (or hand) wrong, but as in any such Final it is always down to the 'taste' of the adjudicators, one of whom gave Clonduff a 1st place and the eventual winners a 3rd place.
Invite to the Residents of Clonduff
Perhaps in your youth you were a member of Clonduff Club; perhaps you were never very interested in the past; perhaps you are a parent with worries about potential for obesity and/or anti-social behavior; perhaps you are a newcomer to the Parish of Clonduff! Becoming involved and/or encouraging your children and neighbours to get involved with your local club - Clonduff GAC - might just be the opportunity you/they need to become responsible members of our community. When young people are involved in club activities you know where they are and what they are up to - but parents and other family members are needed to ensure that everyone's needs are catered for.
Clonduff GAC provides a wide variety of Gaelic Sporting, Cultural and Social activities for males and females from four years old upwards with no upper age limit.

Volunteers Needed
In order to provide the best and cleanest facilities for our community Clonduff needs your help! Currently a rota of parents is being established to keep the Clubrooms looking their very best with a thorough monthly cleanup. Helena Grant (07880664157) and Maureen Grant (07879876500) have volunteered to organise this side of things - please feel free to get in touch with them as they will be getting in touch with you!
Sheenagh McConville will, as usual, be looking after the dressing rooms weekly rota when the playing season gets under way. This will involve players of all codes and committee members.

Hurling
Hurlers suffer their first defeat in this season's Ulster League! Having beaten All Saints, Ballymena at home in the first game it was always going to be a struggle in the return game and so it proved to be. Clonduff were beaten by six points but remain joint top of the table with All Saints. Their last two games in the group section are at home.
U14/U16 Hurling Training continues on Friday evenings at 5 30 pm in the field!
Club Lotto; The Jackpot is now £3000, nice money if you can get it, draw takes place in Clonduff Bar on Monday night at 10-00pm. The club Lotto has been running continuously for over sixteen years. Since the first night a small band of regular "Monday nighters" have been keeping the thing going. A few weeks ago Fintan Quinn who was one of the original team informed us that Monday nights no longer suited him and Monday night was his last. Tommy Kelly, another of the first team thanked Fintan for his work and made a small presentation, afterwards we all had a wee party and enjoyed Pat Kellys buns and Sandwiches.
