Kilkenny's Tommy Walsh

Kilkenny legend Tommy Walsh is set to be part of the Kilkenny minor hurling backroom team next season.

The Tullaroan clubman, who won nine All-Ireland SHC titles in the black and amber, will work as a coach and selector under team manager Gordon Byrne.

Byrne was ratified to his third year in charge of the team on Tuesday night, with this past season seeing him steer the Cats to the Leinster minor championship final where they lost out to Galway after extra time.

Walsh’s appointment as coach and selector sees the nine-time All-Star taking his first steps into inter-county management where he is set to also work alongside Liam Lacey of St Patrick's, Stephen Morgan of James Stephens and Mooncoin’s Billy Quinn.
