Ryan O’Donoghue expects Mayo to bounce back from last Sunday's sobering Connacht SFC semi-final loss to Roscommon.
Andy Moran's men crashed to a 1-18 to 2-25 defeat in front of their own fans in Castlebar and now find themselves focusing on the All-Ireland SFC series earlier than they would have liked.
When asked by reporters if Mayo could get back on the horse at yesterday's launch of SuperValu’s ‘Real Nourishment’ campaign in Croke Park, the Belmullet sharpshooter replied: “Yeah, I do, and it's the reason I'm putting my life on hold and training seven days a week. If I didn't believe that, I'd be away sunning myself in Australia like everyone else.
“So, I do believe that, and I do believe that we're close, but yet far away. We have to earn the right now to talk about going to the top table because we just haven't been there over the last couple of years, and that's the goal.
“But I think if we sort out our kick-outs and the 50-50s is an attitude thing, and then our conversion rate, that's something every team is trying to succeed with."
O'Donoghue added: “They are massive things, but something small can just tip the scale, and that's the challenge and the opportunity that we have over the next four weeks. And I'm looking forward to seeing what can happen and try and turn last Sunday into something positive.”
