There is frustration in Leinster hurling circles at the withdrawals of Down and Kerry from the provincial minor and U20 championships.
Down withdrew from the Leinster MHC before a ball was ever pucked, while Kerry conceded a walkover to Westmeath before they were due to travel to Castlepollard for last Saturday’s scheduled Leinster U20HC Tier 2 clash. The Kingdom had previously beaten Carlow by 1-20 to 1-9 in Tier 2 after losing to Kildare by 2-24 to 0-14 in Tier 1.
Kerry were accepted into the Leinster MHC and U20HC along with Galway in 2023 – the Tribesmen also partake in the Leinster SHC – but their future involvement could be in jeopardy following last weekend’s walkover.
