Cian Lynch has taken to the roads of Patrickswell as a way of keeping his hurling skills sharp while waiting for an end to a third Covid-19 lockdown and a return to competitive action.

Having been a key cog in the machine that propelled Limerick to an historic All-Ireland SHC, Munster SHC and Allianz League treble last year with a series of impressive displays in the middle-third, Lynch is not one to rest on his laurels.

Speaking on RTÉ 2FM's Game On, Lynch told how he has been managing without being in a team environment and about the few run-ins with potholes.

"We're all so inter-dependent on each other as players, you depend on the guy next to you at a training session to drive you on and call you out when you are not pulling your weight," Lynch said.

"It is hard to keep yourself at the top edge, but getting out for those little walks. I tend to bring the hurley with me, whether it is hitting the ball off the ground, or playing a bit of road hurling with one of the neighbours.

"It's a nice bit of craic and something different. You are trying to curl it around the corner... There's potholes that haven't been fixed and you are blaming them on a few dodgy hops. It's nice to change it up."
