Cork’s Conor Cahalane has effectively swapped places with his brother Jack by switching his focus from hurling to football.

The 27-year-old has linked up with John Cleary’s football squad ahead of Saturday evening’s Allianz Football League Division 2 Round 3 meeting with Westmeath at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, according to a report in the Southern Star. It comes after he was excluded from hurling boss Pat Ryan’s 37-man panel which was announced last week, and after younger brother Jack switched codes by joining the hurlers.

As far as his inter-county career is concerned, Conor had concentrated on the small ball code until now, having made his senior debut in 2018. He plays his club hurling with St Finbarr’s and football with Castlehaven.
