Diarmuid O'Connor is looking forward to playing under the new football rules for the first time in a competitive fixture against Donegal on Sunday.
Speaking at the the launch of next month's Lidl Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé, which will also be played under the new rule enhancements, the Kerry star commented: “We are very excited to get started back to competitive football next Sunday with the new rules.
"Up until now it has just been training, training games and challenge games. The rules will definitely benefit the game in terms of spectators and things, so we are looking forward to getting stuck into them on Sunday and beyond.
“The last couple of years it has kind of veered very defensively. I suppose the easiest way for teams to try and win was to set up defensively.
"With the new rules you have to be a bit more offensive-minded in keeping the three up, so that will benefit in terms of kicking. Obviously long kick-outs will come into play then as well.”
