Former Mayo hurling manager Derek Walsh has been added to the county’s ladies football management.
Mayo ladies football boss Liam McHale has brought Walsh on board as a coach / selector ahead of the 2025 season. Walsh guided the Mayo hurlers to Nickey Rackard Cup success in 2021 and to a Christy Ring Cup final appearance the following year. He also managed the Ballyhaunis senior footballers recently and was previously involved with the ladies when they came up short against Dublin in the 2017 All-Ireland final.
Former Castlebar Mitchels and Mayo star Henry Gavin has also been added to the backroom team as a coach / advisor, while ex-League of Ireland and Mayo minor goalkeeper Michael Schlingermann is goalkeeper coach and video analyst.
