Mohill made it back-to-back Leitrim senior football championship titles this evening after defeating Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins in a penalty shoot-out (4-2).

The replay decider in Ballinamore finished all square on a 0-17 to 1-14 scoreline after 80 minutes and Sean Harkin would convert the winning penalty for the holders to ensure they retained their coveted crown.

Having led by 0-10 to 0-7 at the halfway stage, Mohill conceded the first three points of the second-half before Domhnall Flynn (two frees) and Ryan Bohan put them ahead by three again.

Eamonn O’Hara’s men led by the same margin before Tom Prior blasted in the game’s only goal in the 56th minute to square things up for Ballinamore, and a free from Paul Honeyman would put the 2021 champions in front late on.

A superb Jordan Reynolds point in injury-time ensured extra periods for Mohill though and they’d lead by two late in extra time ahead of Prior and Paul Moran sending over points to force penalties where O’Hara’s charges would hold their nerve to secure their club’s 10th SFC success.
