Austin Stacks have appointed Darragh Long as their new senior football manager.
The former long-serving player, who is a son of 1973 Cork All-Ireland SFC winner Dinny, succeeds Billy Lee, who stepped down after leading the once-mighty Tralee club back to the senior ranks following last year’s county IFC final replay victory over Laune Rangers. They subsequently reached the All-Ireland club IFC semi-final, only to lose to Ballinderry.
Long wore the club colours for nearly 20 years, during which he won a county SFC medal in 2014. He co-managed the Kerry ladies along with Declan Quill for five years, culminating in the Kingdom winning their first All-Ireland senior title in 31 years last year.
Long’s backroom team will include strength and conditioning coach Ciaran McCabe and Dale Counihan.
