Erne Gaels manager Declan Bonner described his red card in the closing stages of last Sunday’s drawn Fermanagh SFC final against Enniskillen Gaels as ‘total nonsense’.

The former Donegal player and manager was sent to the stand in the 50th minute by referee Nigel Sweeney as the New York Cup decider went to a replay, which has been fixed for this Saturday, November 2 at 5pm in Brewster Park.

“I have had this with officials here all year and I was shouting at Tommy (McCaffrey) for kicking the ball away and told him that we can’t afford to be doing that," he told reporters.

“All of a sudden, I was sent off as it was thought I was shouting at the linesman and I did not even see the linesman and I am experiencing this a lot in Fermanagh.

“I am dealing with this long enough, but I thought it was a real championship match with real intensity.”

Ironically, Bonner served a 12-week ban last year arising from a red card he received while managing his home club Na Rossa against Fermanagh’s Lisnaskea in the Ulster Club JFC quarter-final.
