Tyrone’s Conor McKenna could be set to play in his second consecutive AFL Grand Final following Brisbane Lions’ 95-85 victory over Geelong Cats on Saturday.

The thrilling clash, which was played before a 93,066 crowd at the MCG, marked an end to the fantastic career of Zach Tuohy who holds the record for most AFL appearances by an Irish player.

The Laois native had to watch the Preliminary Final from the stands after being left out by Geelong coach Chris Scott whom saw his team let a 19-point half-time lead slip.

“It was one of the harder calls that I think we’ve had to make in a long, long time. I’m not even sure it’s the right call. But it’s a call we made,” Scott said of the decision to omit Tuohy on Friday.

2021 All-Ireland winner McKenna came off the bench to set-up Logan Morris for a crucial goal late on in the Lions’ comeback win as they now look forward to playing Sydney Swans in the final.

Brisbane Lions, along with Conor McKenna, Darragh Joyce and James Madden, are heading for the #AFL Grand Final.
