Interviews are set to be held with potential candidates for the Mayo senior football managerial vacancy following the passing of the deadline for applications.

Interviews are expected to get underway soon as the Mayo county board executive plan to have Kevin McStay’s successor in place before the county’s club football championships commence on the weekend of August 23/24.

Mayo have been on the lookout for a new football boss since McStay was relieved from his duties towards the end of June after three seasons at the helm, with Mayo GAA since apologising for the wording of the statement to announce the dismissal of McStay

The Connaught Telegraph reports that the Management Appointment Committee (MAC) put in place to find the county’s next senior football manager includes “the county board chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, treasurer, coaching officer, at least two other county board members, and at least one external representative who would have a background in HR”.

Tony McEntee, Andy Moran, Kieran Donaghy and Austin O’Malley have all been linked with the managerial vacancy since McStay’s dismissal on June 25th.
