Tipperary consolidated their place at the top of the Allianz Hurling League Division 1A table with a 2-25 to 1-19 victory over Kilkenny at UPMC Nowlan Park where the hosts finished with 12 men.
All four red cards in the game were issued between the 43rd and 52nd minutes by referee Sean Stack, with Tipp’s Alan Tynan the first to receive his marching orders before David Blanchfield, Mikey Carey and Jordan Molloy were all sent off for the Leinster champions.
The Premier men had been in control to that point, with goals from Craig Moran and Oisin O'Donoghue helping them to lead by 2-13 to 1-10 at half-time.
The Cats got their goal through Gearoid Dunne in the run up to the interval and the start of the second-half would see TJ Reid, who finished with 0-13, and Darragh McCarthy swapping frees back and forth before four red cards were dished out in nine minutes.
After that, Tipp saw out the job with young marksman McCarthy raising his tally to a dozen points and Willie Connors, Sam O'Farrell, Ronan Maher and Noel McGrath (2) all raising white flags to secure what was a comfortable win the end.
