Three Irish players have been named on the 2024 AFLW All-Australian team.
Tipperary duo Aisling McCarthy (Fremantle) and Aishling Moloney (Geelong) are joined by Mayo’s Aileen Gilroy (Hawthorn), who becomes the first All-Australian and LGFA All-Star winner. The trio make up an all-Irish half-forward line. Moloney was the equal leading goalkicker in this year’s campaign.
Ten clubs are represented, with the Brisbane Lions and Adelaide Crows leading the way with four players each. Galway’s Aine McDonagh, who is a team-mate of Gilroy’s at Hawthorn, was shortlisted but did not make the final selection.
The All-Australian team was selected by a panel from across the Australian football industry, mixed from members of the media and AFL officials.
Tweet12 players have been named in the AFLW All-Australian side for the first time.
